Depressurise fuel system (by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the car til it stalls) battery out, radiator out, unplug the loom from the C101 plug, battery teminal and ecu, AFM off, earth straps, fuel lines, alternator, p/s pump, exhaust. If you're swapping the gearbox out too, propshaft and remove anything else holding the gearstick in the car, disconnect the gear linkage, gearbox mounts, engine mounts and you're out! I think that's it... :?

iS gear box ratios. I think this is same as on the 318.

1st 3.72
2nd 2.02
3rd 1.32
4th 1.00
5th 0.81

Diff 4.10

I dunno about the ratios being different, they're not miles out if they are, but the M42 will fit the M40 gearbox, and difference (if any) will be completely irrelevent.

Any money says the GSF ones will be a solid rubber affair that will hold the engine in the right place. The BMW ones will be hydrolastic affairs that damp vibrations gnerated by the engine much more effectively. The mounts I took off my iS were hydrolastic...

Where are you getting your mount for the iS coilpacks? I bet BMW aren't too expensive at all for a new weld on one. Alternatively you can apparently use the direct fire packs from an M52 engine and do away with them completely. Would be nice and neat.

Good luck dude.

How're you getting on? Any pictures yet? Have you been de-greasing everything. Don't forget my magic formula of 4 parts Kerosene to 1 part fairy liquid mixed till it's a gell. The best de-greaser/cleaner I've ever used.

ordered them today the engine mounts that is fella 6.75 each not bad i thought from GSF. The coil brackets where about £15 allin from BMW rolled the car down to our jet wash last night covered everything up and washed the engine bay out with TFR i use it on everything good stuff.

for pictures fella

And as far as using the M54 coilpacks go they're a straight swap for the M42 ones, just need to make up a bracket to hold them in place and re-route the loom.

I'm not sure if anyone on here actualy has a COP conversion on their cars, it's on my to do list. Remember it's M54 coils, as found in E46 6pots.

It's impossibly hard to find pics of COP conversions but here's one I stole from someone on M42club.

yeah hi Tommy, had the change of two but this one had the lowest miles and it was a lot closer and a part history, mileage is only at 112,000 he had the service book and 4 mot papers, bran new wing the the boot. He said it had been sitting there since 2006 fresh petrol and a fully charge battery and she started on the button.

yeah the price, what was it you said he wouldn't take no less then £300 mmmmmmm got it for £200, you know what as well i don't think it would take much to but back on the road, don't know if you had a good look at it when you see it but there's no rust on it anywhere other than where that wing has been changed.
