hi, im currently swapping my 318i motor for a m20b25 from a auto donor car...i purchased a manual getrag 260 box separately and i would just like to know how to tell what car or model it came from...where do i c the part no?how do i know if its a sport or overdrive box....thanx

Should be an identifying mark at the front edge of the bellhousing,it's the leters that matter,not the serial number. 260 'box can be;ANO,TNT,NT (ex 325e,so an unlikely find in the UK) NW,TNW,ANB(standard) or HJ/TNN (sport) for 325i,if the 'box is ex 325ix(again unlikely in the UK) TNX(overdrive)THB or HJ (sport) hope that helps,info comes from the E30 Restoration Bible,written by that well known author A Everett. winkeye

thanks for the info....i have the bible and the problem is my bellhousing says HC....tried searching realoem for all the year production for e30,e34, e28 but didnt find any that matched....need help if anyone knows how do i see the part no for the gearbox besides the alphbet code....thanks....
