Hi guys, after a looooong delay on the conversion (missed santa pod too),all needed poly bushes are now in, finally.
After reading a few threads today, whats this about using a m20 prop???
Also, after getting the enine back into pos 3, and taking it back out again, i have cut away the sound proofing and gently massaged the firewall(like f#*k) away further in towards the car, did any of you have issues with the brake lines going across the to the servo, as i have had to move them up from the engine.
And did you fit the e34 rad with no real issues?
I have a e36 328 prop but still have my 2 origional ones from the m20 and m30, so input would be helpfull as these are free issue, and I don't have to fork out more for the e36 prop.
Will be back in the morning to hopefully get the engine back in again.
Another question on the exhaust manifolds, I had to remove them again because they were causing a problem on the steering rack, do these need to be modified aswell as I tought they would not be an issue??

Hello,

For the lines i just moved them up out the way.

No issues with the E34 for rad, although you will need to use an electric fan as no room for the viscous one, i've got about 5mm clearance between rad and the leads. You will need 2 RH ones i think they are from the e30 and the rad sits in perfect.

For mine i used the rear half of the M20 with the front half of the M30 shortened, done by reco-prop with a quick turn around if no one local to you...

Hope that helps a bit...

Just wanted to know abut the prop, but have a e36 one to hand for £30 so I suppose thats still cheaper than having one cut and shut  .
As for the rad, thats all the space i have aswell, but wanted to know if it was the norm.
One other question, when you drive around, does the engine not touch the rad at some point or is this no problem??
Whos uprated thier brakes and to what and how??

you can use teh e34 rad but there are 2 types and one is too wide for the e30.

e28 535i is better as its thinner. new grom gsf for £99 so you can always get one of those new.

£30 for the e36 328i prop is happy days so just stick that on.

as for mani.......its a bit of a ball ache.
have a look at the last few pages of my thread in my sig. i used an m3 exhaust so the problem of steering clearance was exaggerated so i had to really adjust the down pipes and the mani angle.

i used a manual steering rack as i knew the knuckle on the steering mech was lower down. dont really know what a manual rack will be like..... :? might get a e36 rack on there at some point.

i advise something stronger than the rubber engine mounts as you will stop flex and maybe stop the engine moving so much.

What have you used for your mounts, as i heard you can use e36 oil filled mounts??
Is this true or should i try to match something up?

Another question, have you put any other guages in by the ashtray, such as oil pressure, battery readout etc and if so where did you get them from?

i got some poly mounts of ebay. not the best but they will do for now. rubber is ok but i was shocked by how much the engine would move.

cause issues with steering and my dissy hit my rad. enign is much further back now.

na non of that for me. i just want it to work for now. my old little mod might be a light for the electric fan, that way i will know if the fuse blows or it burns out. exciting stuff ay.

Yes it does under heavy braking.
I cut the air con belt part of the crank pulley off the end, it wasn't a problem after that.

Mine didn't have aircon on the e34 so should be ok.
Suppose I might have a rad made up at a later date.

even if you dont have aircon you will still have the pulley (wheel). its near the base of the rad.

dont get a rad made up, just buy a e28 535 rad. its perfect!

driftboy we need to know more about the turbo goodness
