Does anyone have an S50B30/b32 Swap Parts List, nearly have an engine + box bought (can get either engine) just want to try and get all the bits together before i start the swap.
which would be the best engine for the swap reliability wise, I've read alot of lad have had misfortune with the b32 btm end's or vanos trouble during install, the b30 does not apper th suffer as much.
any help would be appreciated!!!

To be fair things will go wrong every once in a while with any engine and the S50 is no exception, with the evo engine they increased the stroke to 91.0 mm to gain extra capacity as they had reach the bore limits on the M50 block. This ment that the pistons had to travel longer distances putting more strain on the crank than previously, however in real life this isnt an issue as long as you dont hammer the engine to within a inch of its life or remove the rev limiter.
Id go for the bigger engine and treat it nice.

It's only the stock rod end bolts that are a weak point, and not if the engine isn't redlined (or above stock redline). I've fitted the ARP bolts instead for peace of mind. Engines should always be allowed to reach operating temp before being ragged.
The VANOS failure is a bit of an urban myth fed by A: Poor servicing (even on BMW's part) and B: the price of a BMW replacement module. Regular oil services with correct oil, and regular replacement of both the VANOS filter and cover plates will revent VANOS failure. There are cheaper ways to fix dead VANOS units too, other than paing BMW a fortune to replace the whole thing.
The S50 B32 engine is a glorious thing. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a B30 though either. Just buy the best treated and lowest mileage engine, whichever turns up first.

Lads, thanks for the info,
jaistanley I'm leaning towards the B32 at this stage and as you said replace the conrod bolts with ARP items and some good servicing on the vanos side of things.#
The thing is how do you verify what servicing was carried out during the life of the engine when you buy from a dismantler and also what would you think would be acceptable mileage on an engine to be used for a conversion.
Also what would be a good price for B32, 6 Speed Box, ECU wiring loom and EWS Kit with lower mileage 80k to 100k.
