Hi all

Small question that has been bugging me for a while now. For those who do not want to run BMW's MTF oil, what should you run? The box in question is the Getrag S6S420G as fitted to M3EVO and V8's, but afaik BMW uses its MTF across the range of their boxes.

So far I managed to find out that MTF1 and 2 were fully synthetic 80W90, MTF1 made by Esso and 2 by castrol... And that the formulation and properties of the MTF2 are totally different from the MTF 1

Which is not much help until you know what additives they put in. Especially as the same box on supras seems to be fairly intolerant to some non OEM oils. (source bmw and toyota forums in the US) - But I also know that the BMW MTF and toyota's OEM oils are different.

A contact I've got with an oil manufacturer couldn't help me, and oilman (opie oils) didn't bother answering my two mails, so I'm wondering if one of you has got some experience with this?

Cheers
Seb
