Hi chaps,
Slowing working on my 325 getting all the MS bits together... one of the main problems I have is not having a lambda sensor fitting on my exhaust. Its a fritz 6 branch (I believe, one of the original 1st ever 6 branch group buys), which is basically 2 seperate systems, so not sure where to put the sensor? Do I need to try and join the pipes?
Cheers,
James

Fitting it in one pipe only should be good enough. Whatever is happening in three cylinders should be happening in the other three as well.

Try get into number 6 runner, purley as it's the hottest and the first to blow, I can prove this about 5 times over

While your there fit a boss for a EGT gauge into number 6 too, that's all you will need to really fine tune it.....
EGT's are one toy I'll add over the winter when the new manifold is eventually welded up.
HTH, Mark.

What's the benefit of EGT? Allow you to get better spark tuning?

As fozzymonster says. 10 to 2 is best. Not below 9 or 3. Its so that the sensor tip is not submerged in water left by condensation. Bit tricky to get it 10 to 2 on a standard exhaust.

It allows you to monitor the condition of the engine at the current state.hoshy wrote:What's the benefit of EGT? Allow you to get better spark tuning?
When something might fail you´ll see different EGT but might see same boost and same AFR. So it´s to help you notice problems.
EGT sensors are SLOW so they can´t be used in sweeping action only steady state tuning and even then it´s dangerous to keep a hard boosted engine at full chat at one rpm.
