As there seams to be more and more supercharged M42 poping up thought this might be useful for you all! :D

Got home early so i started on making the bracket to relocate my alternator to the other side of the engine. :D

It clears the chassis rail and sits on the same level as the pas pump, also has full tesioning swing??? avaliable :D

Just need some correct length bolts and new bushes in the alternator bracket, as you can see there FUBAR'd

Got to check the belt still fits but i think it will and if not its not hard to find a new one off a different car.

Have you looked at using an a/c bracket? Ant said that would work on a m20, so it could work on your engine too.

BTW I have no personal experiance and your work looks good like usual :D

I could have tryed to use an aircon bracket but i dint fancy buying one from the stealers and i dint think there was uch chane of some one selling just the mounting bracket :D

good idea though :D

Did abit more tonight, just need to sort out the wiring and get a very slightly shorter belt than the one thats on as it gets tight enough but only at full swing on the tensioner so there no rooom to re-adjust in the future :(

Not brilliant pics but you get the idea :D :D

Awesome work mate. Much better job than I made. Need to re"engineer" mine to something like u did.

Looks to me like you'd got the same slight misalignment that i have, like the block mounts or bracket isn't exactly perpendicular to the crank pulley?

It is parallel just dosnt look it from the pic as the bolt wasnt all the way through and the bushes were knackered. I'am doing a drawing for shep to post up later this week so he can make one the same, i'll send you them link once ive dont it if you want?

Did you find that with the mount upside down theres not that you dont get the same tesion per movement of the arm as when it on the other side? mines tight enough its just that its nearly all the was out on the tesioning arm :D :D seams to work well though the belts just to say rubbed on the crank trigger wheel sensor housing, nothing to be bothered with though :D

Cool. Mine doesn't have a step bracket but some spacers instead so because of the chassis leg there's no change for using the stock adjuster. So, we put an extra tensioner in.

I now have a technical drawing for this (thanks for Geoffbob) if any one needs it. It's in PDF format, drop me a PM or an email.

Made mine from 5mm aluminium plate:
