yeah man the e34 one does the trick! but my rubber mount died on me and the engine dropped into the rad and cracked the dizzy

oh well it still works.

e28 rad new from esf or euro parts are £98 but if you have the e34 rad just get it in but there are a few different rads in the e34 with slightly bigger plastic side walls.

just try and slide it in if you can. i have to umm slide it in with a bit of force but its gets there :D should be better when i get my engine in right. loads of space

Ideal! always a bonus if I don't have to buy more stuff!! I eyed it up Monday and I reckon it will go, just, will touch the dizzy though.

Ric or carl, you got any video of yours running/driving anywhere??

i trimmed the over hanging alu lip of the top and bottom of the rad so it goes in easier, trimmed it back so it is flush with the cooling fins.

Got the gearbox mount and the gear linkages on today. Was going to mount the rad and all that crap but the rain wouldn't let up so I gave up and got a domioes instead!! winkeye

Strangely enough, after I connected the reverse light switch wiring the fuel gauge now reads full tank, when it only read quarter yesterday???! Coinsidence or something I'm missing here???

Used the 325i mounts and linkages, no mods needed, bonus!!

Image

Not much fun crawling around under here in the fooking rain, car resting on old wheels!!!

you either need a e28 535 rad or to get your engine further back to get the e34 rad in strange though as my e34 rad went in on that position

Might have to try and source a e28 rad then as moving the engine back is a foooking chore!! Getting it there was hard enough!!!

Oh yeah how did you get on? Is it up and running now? I didn't really get anywhere, rained all weekend here!

I'm thinking maybe jack the engine up with a block of wood under the sump and then use a porta power between the front cross member and the engine to push it back into position 3, using an engine crane to manouvre the big six is a fooking nightmare!! (As you know!!)

Nice dry day today so I got a fair it done!! After staring at the tiny gap between the front panel and the dizzy cap I decided the engine HAD to go back to position 3 (as everyone already said!! :o: )

As I was on my own today I cut a piece of wood and wedged it between the sump and the floor, removed both the engine mounts and slackened the gearbox mount, then used the BMW jack between the engine and front panel to slowly push it in to place. As rough as that probably sounds it worked a treat as when it was on the crane it was moving on the wrong angle, this way it just slid right back! Ideal!

Made up a bracket for the coil pack, bolted the front manifold back on, refitted the rocker cover, got the rad in and one of the heater matrix hoses.

Got to get a T piece for the other matrix hose tomorrow. Fit and wire in the electric fan. Join the 3.5 exhaust to the 2.5.Measure the prop section needed. Make up a bracket for the airbox. Oh and bleed the cooling system.

Really coming together now I think!!! :D

Quick update, although I don't have any pictures uploaded yet!

Got the prop shortened and balanced by a local engineering shop. Got the exhaust sorted, used 535i down pipes then slid the 325i system into it and clamped it up! winkeye

Got to add a T piece to the coolant system for the heater matrix, and fit an electric fan. Did things abit arse about face aswell, just got the bits to service it, oil, filters plugs etc :o:

Oh and I got it insured today to, £211 fully comp with free track day cover and agreed value!! Bonus, as I don't have any no claims!!

Roll on next week, can't foooking wait to drive it! :D
