Different ways to stich weld most weld for 3cm leave 1 cm space then another 3cm so on, seam welding is a continuous weld without breaks but not used often as it adds weight and makes repairs to the body complete pain to do. (yours seem bit too far apart maybe just angle of the picture? but you have the idea)

As for cages bottom of A piller, bottom of B piller then to rear turret same for top of the cage make sure its welded to chassis rails and other load points like suspension and pillers otherwise it will just tear up the panel like opening a tin of sardines. Again many ways to do this an easy solution is to buy a ready built cage and weld that in (avoid using bolt in cages)

its called seam welding because your welding the seams of the car up. from what ive seen on most cars the welds are usually an inch long with and inch gap to the next weld.

a good rule of thumb is to go inch by inch on the welds, this gives around a 30% increase in the strength of the shell.

oh and continuous seam welds are rairly used as they allow cracks to propagate along the panel join and this can cause sudden failure.

hey mate, we have the same shade of blue on our cars!

anyway, is your car LHD or RHD?

im thinking of making a turbo setup myself, but i need to know how to make the exhaust manifold since its so very close to the steering pole. my car is a RHD car.

can i see your exhaust manifold pic, its position relative to the pole and its bends up until the turbo unit and towards the exhaust pipes as well?

btw, my engine is a M40
