Thank you.gazatron wrote:dont really get starvation never run below 1/4 of a tank if it can be helped, got a walbro 255 as low in the tank as possible. When we go past the 550ish bhp with a bigger turbo going to get a swirl pot and a bigger pump maybe a inline one too.
another S50 swap! now TURBO

I'm in the middle of discussing this problem now. Take a look and see what you think.gazatron wrote:what pump do you have? is it as low as possible? some people put foam in their tanks to help combat this

What a build! have you got any pics of the turbo manifold off??
Chris.
Chris.
They sit at the same height. I think i have a solution now.gazatron wrote:my eyes are tired! so are you running are walbro in it now? you said you dont get it with a 325 have you took both pumps out and compared how they are sat in the cradles? perhaps even swaped the two over?
You might like to upgrade your turbo as it´s a little bit small for the S50.
The S50 is a heavy breathing engine and does not like backpressure.
Which your turbocharger will do at some boost.
Something like a GT35R would suit it alot better and allow for alot better power with less boost.
Other then that ,
Great looking setup.

Nice work.
I'm in the process of building an e30 s50 turbo, been on it for about a year now. Not quite as speced up as yours though!
Low comp pistons, forged rods, vanos removed-fixed pulleys, kms management 680cc injectors...ect
Partly mapped on dyno but producing too much torque to hold rpm! eta april....

Very nice, what turbo did you run before? That GT30 will run out of go around 450bhp depending on wheel sizes, what are your goals?
Have you considered a custom intake mani? most s50turbo's run them, with the tb's it's much easier to make, build looks the nuts, good luck, you gotta love e30's with boost!

the gt30 is the first one we have used, maily just to get it up and running, then decide what turbo to go for when we are bored of that.
the main goal was to do everything else first so it would be a simple case of just uprating the turbo and a few other things when we wanted more power but everything else would be already done. alot of people just bolt big turbos on and then see they need better clutches, bigger brakes and everything else that goes with it.

done some more work today going to fire it up tonight

nicalauski what did you do about the knock sensors when running your KMS? can they be put into the ecu? im just using a knock meter but hard to keep your eyes on it sometimes
the tiltons are 600 series floor mounts with the twin master cyl on the brakes with the bias adjustement built in, and a remote adjuster unit

Mate that build is the bolloks.... we need dyno graphs when you finally get it mapped!

I'm not using the knock sensors, KMS doesn't have a facitily for knock sensors.
If the engine is mapped correctly you shouldn't have a need for knock detection. KMS has fuel correction for air and exhaust temperature which should help keep things safe.
I've mapped mine upto 5000rpm, with around 7psi boost. I didn't have any trouble with detonation at that stage although that may change as boost increses. It was on boost at 2000rpm making over 200lb/ft, looking forward to driving it!
