Very similar manifold was in one of Toyota engines (the pipes are not parts of casting, it is not so compicate). It is some kind of variation of M20 manifold, isn't it?
Turbo-Brown wrote:Jan, the turbos came from a Skyline so I think they're a funny spec of T25 with tiny little hot sides.
Are they one of that ceramic Skyline turbos or ceramic was used later?
Turbo-Brown wrote:I could perhaps have taken another 3psi if the injectors were larger, but they ended up going to 97% duty as it was.
You shoudn't exceed 80% duty! They need to cool down (the coils in injectors) and with so lond duty quite big pqrt of fuel are reaching the inlet valve seat when the valve is closed. In that case lots of fuel are condense on port walls. I know that you are now on next project but it needs bigger injectors (minimum 50%).
Turbo-Brown wrote:The engine's a standard early spec M20B25 with a 9.7:1 compression ratio and standard cam.
Quite high CR for two valve per cylinder engine! BTW with new turbo setup try the cam with higher lift (don't go mad with duration). Shoud give more power without destroing flexibility.
Turbo-Brown wrote:Anyway, all this lot's moving on as I'm working on a twin sequential setup now in the hope of getting boost from idle to the red line :)
I must say that I'm very impresed that you are going to do this. My project is a little more complex but I'm not feel enough strong to try sequential (I just hope that with carefully design and selection the components I will have enough good setup).

They're the turbos with the ceramic turbines which I believe shouldn't be pushed too hard in terms of boost or the turbines break :o

I only run batch injection so half the fuel is injected against the closed valve as it is. Have seen a couple of people and read about Dave Walker trying sequential injection but not getting any gain other than in injector resolution at low engine speeds. Ideally I'd like to run sequential at low loads and batch at higher loads to get the best resolution whilst not needing massive injectors. Will be buying much larger injectors for this project though :D

I've spoken to a Cat-Cams dealer about high lift turbo grinds for my large power band, sounds like the way to go :)

So what is your project going to be? We talking a forced induction system? :D

Skylines are absolutely unknown for me and I never used turbos with ceramic turbines so I can't say anything about it. :o:

I don't want to say too much because I'm in the very early stage collecting the parts. And as I told you before, I like factory look, I want to base it on Alpina B10 BiTurbo components (mostly electronics), so it is not the cheapest way to go. I can only say that I want to use a lot bigger engine with more than one turbocharger. But during the collecting I'm going to convert the body to M3 (I just dont want to ruin another M3). I hope that nobody will track my internet activity because then it will be piece of cake to find out what's going on.
The problem is that I don't know how long I will be living in Jersey and if I will move is the RHD car will be usefull there (you know - I have quite good job here but always can be better, I'm quite good skilled mechanic with rally and racing experiences, so maybe England, Irleand, who knows maybe Germany?). I just don't want to say later: my plans are changed. I know loads of that kind people. When I'm saying something I must be 100% sure. I hope you understand it.
