been under the car today with a can of waxoyl, god it's messy stuff. Don't yet know if it is going to come off my hands lol, but the underside of the car looks brand new again. It wasn't bad anyway and there was still plenty of the factory sealant to be seen after I attacked it with the pressure washer a few weeks back. Went to take some pics but every damn camera in the house has flat batteries.
I ordered the wrong engine mounts (E36 instead of E34) so the donk won't be going in for a few more days yet.

OK, so I measured from the end of the ARB where the drop links mount, to the far side of the bend (using an imaginary square edge on the outside of the curve) and it's 22cm.
Does that description make sense?

Bloody French ruler!! Expect you mean about eight and a half inches...now I have been under my car,I can see the difference,it did not hit me yesterday... standard bar has a second bend to slot into the droplink,do those ajustable one's come with a modified link?E30BeemerLad wrote:OK, so I measured from the end of the ARB where the drop links mount, to the far side of the bend (using an imaginary square edge on the outside of the curve) and it's 22cm.

Thanks,Lee, how are you going to mount the standard rear droplink to that rear ARB? The standard item has a futher 90 degree bend, where yours has the holes...to enter the bush on the link end...looks to me like a rose-jointed link similar to the front one will be needed.

OK Carl, I've just spoken to the dude about the manifold.
He said he wants to keep hold of the old one just until he has finished welding mine up just so he can check mine hasn't distorted after welding etc etc.
He said he hopes to get mine welded up on Saturday and back to me, so it's gonna be early next week at the earliest I'm afraid, will let know know at the weekend if I get them back.
Sorry it's dragging on, i'd be doing my nut if my engine was in and running
Ordered my E28 M5 engine mounts today from Zimmer, should be here tomorrow, so with a bit of luck and dry weather i may have the mill fitted by the weekend.

Got stuck in and made a bit of progress with the swap today.
The old engine mounts were a bit of a mo-fo to get undone, one of them eventually snapped the thread, which made life easier. The gearbox mount was also a pain in the arse.
this is the lump dangling precariously before the fun started

If only i knew the grief ahead of me

and the problem I ended up with, passenger side on the mount

driver side a good inch away

will try spinning the mounts around and see if that cures the problem
