The only thing the M54 (3.0L) is good for is the crank! at 89.6mm stroke you can use it for a 3.0 or 3.1L M20.

The rods are 135mm, probably light but don't sound too strong.

I'm not in a major hurry don't worry. Skint again till payday anyway so can't afford to start the rebuild till next month now anyway. and Custom pistons are still about 6 weeks away.

Yup, went for the same as you, however I did make up a little spec sheet for myself and consider an 86mm bore for an extra 70cc but felt it was too much of a risk going for a larger bore.

Also considered selling the 2 M52 cranks I have and the ETA engine for a M54 crank and go for 3.1L on a 85mm bore. Which would still work with the pistons I ordered.

Went for the same spec as you, though I was qouted 8 weeks because of the ceramic coating.

the bigend bearings are larger iirc......... the ones that work are the US ones S50b30 US and S52B32.

Arrow rods from VAC

These Verdi ones from PPF in 130mm, 135mm or 140mm will do the job

ARP rod bolts are a must
