I read somewhere that if I removed the AC gear alone from the M30 could get it down to m20 weight.
Any truth behind this?

Sadly not!
But some sources reckon the M30 isn't actually that much heavier than the M20, I've heard it said there is as little as 25kg difference.
I have no facility to measure either so I can't confirm this.
