Engine is not redlined at 5900 rpm, it's where we decided to stop the run due to the new engine and also the power isn't exactly rising much per 100rpm.

I´ll definitely be there :)
but will probably even go before that.

Maybe I´ll be able to do a run after ecu change on the 24th.

Hi Guys / Gals

Thanks for comments on my Baby.

Largest and most up most respect must go out to Mr Ant Woodjets
AKA ---- A-Tech, or Ant on the zone.
And also my brother Buggsy ( painpot) for keeping me sane and for his vision in all things bright and beautiful and an on call mechanic

The Story.

In March 2007 their was a post from gcorky for the sale of a holset
Turbo kit, Graham had been amassing all the applicable parts for the
conversion on to his touring (I believe) but unfortunately had more than
one project under his belt, and a kitchen upgrade for his good lady wife in toe
Deal done….., the turbo kit was originally for my brother (paintpot, on the zone)
But due to it just sitting there for ages, I tweaked and bent hIis arm to sell it to me.
Deal done….,

Now in the meantime, my Alpina C2 2.7 Transplanted engine gained a problem
With smoking excessively and burning more than usual amount of oil, so I thought
Fudge this, I am gonna recondition the engine and make it capable of fitting this Turbo Kit from Graham,,,
I was O.K at dismantling the engine etc…but ,,,, Having the time and most of all
Knowledge of how to rebuild it Correctly and for it to withstand all that I'd want to throw at it was a totally different matter….

So I decided if No-One could help I should Contact the A-Tech Team, Da Da Da Da, Da Da Da,,,,, you get what I mean….

On June 4th 2007 I arrived at Ant's Workshop with my beloved 30
on a trailer with the boot of my 30 plus my Alpina C2 2.7, dismantled
into what seemed like a hundred pieces, in the back of a friend's Freelander.

After a coffee and a chat, and being totally lost I must admit, Ant was commissioned to set to work on Building and blueprinting my 2.7 unit, fitting my new Helix Double Plate Clutch (which is very interesting) fitting my 3.25 double clutch M3 Diff, and various other mechanical works that required the attention of a professional, and also to fit My Turbo Kit, including Mega-Squirt, coil pack and all various different types of goodies,,, and Have my 30 prepped and pass an MOT.
During all this going on, Ant still had the time to fully Underseal the entire car, and to obviously Fix other Zoners cars to maintain his day to day Business,,,,

All the time this was transpiring Ant kept me constantly informed on the progress of my 30, and sent me through photo's of what had been done / achieved.

Budget was always a problem with Ant but fortunately was not with me,, Ant strived to get was perfection for a realistic cost, if he weren't happy, it went back, and also the parts that were salvageable were not strewn to one side to make a fast buck, but passed over to you the customer, what an admirable quality….

Any way, here she is, and yes it is more than i could of imagined,,, a few scalps taken already, with totally bemused looks...... Hope you like,,, i certainly do.

@ Gunni, we didn't connect the MAP sensor on the dyno, I have datalogs for the runs, not even looked at them myself TBH , no time this week unfortunatly

Agreed on the EBC, its in the pipeline for some TPS/Boost mapping , MS has boost control mod on board.

For now, she flies, the figs are good considering the low CR and relatively mild boost level, excellent control from the W/Gate too( and sexual noises  )

Dimmys car ran 270+BHP on same dyno on a low CR 2.5 with 11 psi from a Garett hybrid , more area under the graph on that one, probably the best overall, although less awesomely fast once on boost.

Most impressive were the IAT's, only a 2 degree increase over measured intake temp in filter(turbo inlet), max 6 with some heatsoak from a long idling session .

Dont forget Fowlers car, she's a weapon, just a little troublesome for now.....

Did any of these turbocharged M20s run at the Pod? I'm interested to see how well they but the power down. I guess something like this would be getting into low 13s? 8)

I think Erel was the only one, he managed a 15 something.

The fasted e30 M20 turbo out of Sweden/Norway etc is BMWSOB on e30tech.com running a m20b27 supereta setup he managed a 11.66 @ 120mph... Bimmerchump managed a 11.88 @ 111mph IIRC

Since he's built a M52 2.8 turbo which on a shakedown run on low boost managed a 11.2...... he's now upto 34psi..... it's fast..... :D

I would have felt the same with a 3.5 turbo :)

All turbo E30´s running more then 10psi should be getting into the 10´s on a B25.
10psi and more on a B35 should get you into the high 12´s,

low boost B25´s should at least get you in the very low 14´s,
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Crikey Ant, that's bloomin' good from a log manifold!

Was it a tubular jobbie?

Will have to tap you up for a tubby-grind cam at some point in the new year too :D

That'll be BMWSOB I guess, Donovan's flying the flag for super quick e30's!

There's also a UK e30 M50 turbo being built by a friend who managed 350bhp from his M20B25, looking at the parts he has in I would bet he'll eb in the 10's soon too.

I Know what you mean, I've been having dirty thoughts for ages, next won't be a e30 engine tho, not even german, I have a plan for a honda car engine or a bike engine, having read & seen so much stuff about how good they are designed, tested and perform, it's gotta be done, just imagine 20psi @ 10k rpms! Still got the go-kart idea too, mostly due to wanting to practice my welding and fab skills some more.

Need to practice my engine fitting skills to soon also :D

Bike engines are also not designed to work agains a heavy load such as a car. especially their clutch systems.

M50 massaged into a 3.0 + turbo is about as good as things get really.
The head design is great, use a turbo spec cams and the power and delivery can be great.

Obviously the S50 + Turbo is even better. In fact they are amazing engines with great head design.
With great challenges comes great engineering.
