i don't know what the deal is with standard engine mounts breaking. my 3.5 has had a second hand set (from andy335touring's 325i when he did the swap a few years ago) installed since i did the conversion and they are still fine. the don't even mind the turbo

They were ECP mounts that I had, perhaps not as good as genuine parts then? I suspect the Nurburgring trips didn't help either.
