whats the power 190 ish ?
The 328 M52 engine produces the same power as the 2.5 engine. It's a 'strangled' engine, similar to the way the 525e and 325e E30 were.
192 bhp as standard, but the 'strangling' is done by a very restrictive inlet manifold that can be replaced by the 2.5 one. This with, the necessary changes to the ECU to suit the extra air flow, can up the power to around 220 bhp.

Sawyer, The M60B30 produces roughly the same BHP as an M30 (which will be a damn sighteasier and cheaper in the long run. If you want the noise, then sell your B30 and get a B40. These can be had for decent money if you know where to look. I'm looking for a repcalement engine for mine.. either a B46 or B48 winkeye. I reckon the B30 will like the M20B20, less preformance than the bigger engine, but fuel consumption of the smaller, shite-ier engine.

Good luck with the exhaust. Bigdek.. Kudos to you!! ;)

The 2 ecu ports are engine brain and auto box.

Whats the ABD?
Thanks for the advice Oze, you've hit the nail pretty much on the head. I'd love to have the b40, no doubt, infact 740i is just as easy to pick as a 730i. UNFORTUNATELY, as this'll be also my daily driver, NOT a track car, so i've got the running costs to consider. :(

Although I live 2 miles from work so that works quite well!! :D

Ahh, ABD is/was ABS... :?

I think what oze30 was trying to say is that you will get pretty much the same fuel consumption from the 3.0 as you will from the 4.0, so citing reduced running costs as a benefit is rather misguided. You've obviously got you heart set on putting this engine in, it will cost you ALOT, take ages and it not be any quicker than the infinitely cheaper/easier m30 3.5 conversion. Comments from other people on this thread echo this sentiment.

I'm sure it will enjoy the 2 mile journies too :?

It'll be a job to fit it. But at the end of the day, i wanted a V8 engine, which wouldn't reduce me to cycling. I like the straight six engine, don't get me wrong, they are smooth and powerful, but it is not what I want.[/u]

Same amount of work to fit the 3 litre as the 4. Similar fuel consumption as well.
A lot less performance so its a no brainer really!
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

I understand where people are coming from here (why fit an M20B20 instead of B25.....), but other than that I dont see what the problem is.
Ok the 3.0ltr isnt as powerful and has similar fuel consumption to the 4.0ltr, and cost/performance wise the M30B35 conversion is better and more straight forward, but it isnt a V8.

Start fitting the 3.0ltr V8 and get the conversion underway or even finished. If a 4.0ltr comes up at a good price whilst youre doing the work, fair enough go with that, but if not run it with the 3.0ltr and enjoy it - performance doesnt seem to be the key factor here. Then when another engine is found or when funds allow, a 4.0ltr could be swapped in without much hassle.
