Fateful words...

Still, looking on the bright side, at least you can keep the resto/reshell thread rolling for a few more episodes...

not painted them yet mate, they have just been dipped and then given a light blast to the faces to give a good key for the etch primer and then the high build. So keeping my options open depending on what chariot they adorn.

yeah if you could that would be grand. I PM'd him anyway and he said he will get some pics at the weekend. Just need to get an idea of condition and what's missing etc. He's already given me a bit of a rundown but always nice to see some pics

A lad I know has also offered me a 88 2dr 318i, it's in Long Newton apparently, am waiting for more details on that one too, but I do fancy another touring

i had a white mk2 astramax van, cost me £50 with mot and tax. 1.7 non turbo diesel... the lack of regard i had for that machine was almost as immense as it's speed :D but then it did have 10 cylinders and about 280bhp.... in a way :)

Went for a look at the possible replacement today, car belongs to a dude I know from back at college, he PM'd me on Facebook to see if I'd be interested in his car. It has been parked up for 4 years.

I'd already agreed a price with him which is shockingly low and just wanted to check the vital areas to check it wasn't an absolute munter. On the whole, it's in good order, just mainly the rear arches are a little frilly and the inner arches at the front of the wheel house down near the sill are a bit weak and I could hear crunching when pushing hard with fingers. Some plates welded in will see that right.

Took a load of pics, I think I'm going to take it. It's a proper pov spec 316 carb, with keep fit windows and manual rack. Colour is diamond schwartz, doing the best I could, the paintwork appears to be in good order except the rear arches, rear panel near the boot lock has some surface rust & there are a couple of scabs on the driver sill.

The car is located in a garage where it has been parked for years, managed to get a spare set of keys from his folks, battery was stone dead so I pushed it out a bit, but not all the way out as the ground sloped and I could see me ending up stuck and being unable to push it back in, so did the best I could with a torch etc. Underneath defo looks solid.

Here are the pics

i'd guess that once you start at it, it'll need new inner and outer arches. the whole seam looks to have blown. probably a fair bit on the rear of the sills too.

how are the front jacking areas?

This was next too free guys you could repair in arches fit new outers and sill and still sell it and brake even. I would have had it at the money it went for

front jacking points are solid

The car is costing me £100 so I don't have issue with having some rear arches to sort out
