having had a look at my leaky one, i reckon it's the filler neck and i reckon it'll be fairly easy to change just that as it detaches at a short rubber section just before the tank.
mine leaks under the arch but only when full and i'm being an arse (that combination happens once every 150 miles!!!)

Bums, mine's reading all over the place on the fuel gauge which is presumably an unrelated problem, but it's definately not full and it's pretty darned leaky

i don't think it's a nice job! time to get a tank, a can of fuel and drive til empty! at least you'll have a something (the can) able to catch all that's left in it then!

I've decided to ignore the fuel leak and just not put much petrol in it.
Really must get around to doing whatever it is I need to do with the fuel gauge as it always starts off where I think it should, and then drops in a series of steps to just above the reserve mark, but if you leave it to cool for a few hours it goes back up again
Other than that, working hell for leather on the Pug at the moment as it's SO close to starting.......it's own problems
Then, after being ignored for about 2 years, it's time to get on with the GT6.
How's everyone else getting on?

Probably not thinking about it as the car can seemingly only hold about Ԛ£15 of petrol which (unfortunately) doesn't go all that far so I'd be stopping at every petrol station on the way
Hmmmm, now where can I get a new early style tank?!

What happened to your cam cover Mark? Didn't melt or something did it
Well, as with a surprising amount of the problems I've had on my car, the fuel gauge going crazy had cured itself and it doesn't seem to be haemoraging fuel at the same rate as it was.
Of course every silver cloud has a dark lining and it seems that water has started finding its way into both footwells, that and there are ever increasing numbers of rust bubbles cropping up all over the place
Think I need to be thinking about getting another shell and transplanting the mechanicals over. Wonder how much it costs to have a shell rust and paint stripped and then electro-dipped (or whatever it's called). Could then just have my clean bare shell sprayed, bolt back in what I need, couple of seats, heater, dash and the like and never have to worry about rust ever again!

Now... you're totally sure its water aren't you?! Don't want to hear about you on the news....

lol, Nothing that serious, for some reason both the bottom screw on the cap and the bolt that holds the metal water pipe had corroded and both sheared off as I was removing them, both stuck in the cam cover!Turbo-Brown wrote:What happened to your cam cover Mark? Didn't melt or something did it![]()
Having looked at it as it is I actually prefer the look without the cam cover, ala cossie stylee! Got to make a figure out a bracket for the alternator and water pipe but it will allow some more breathing room down there. Need more space to fit the coil pack also.
Having now got my V3 sorted for :
1.Wasted spark
2. Tacho output
3. Boost control
4. Water injection pump
5, Water injection solonoid
I'm now game for some more POWER!! bring on 1.5bar!! LOL!
I picked up a rust free, well nearly, 91 H reg 316 for my new body when the red one finally gives up, some minor cosmetic cleaning up needed but she's never been stressed or ragged as I doubt anyone could with the boat like handling it has on the stock suspension, why or why did they not fit ARB's!!
Mark.

Oh, it was all going so well!
Just been out to look at a house to rent, getting a look around the area before meeting with the estate agents.
Went to start the car and that problem where you turn the key and nothing happens with the starter has reared it's ugly head again!
The unloader relay still works when the key's turned, but not the starter.
Ended up having to hot-wire my own bloomin car to get it going again!

no war mate, catia is the outright winner!gareth wrote:careful, you'll start a AutoCad v Sold Edge v catia etc war!!!
Having 3D modelling and/or 2D CAD available at work and home is cool when it comes to designing bespoke conversion parts.
Autocad is mainly 2d afaik? My small experience with it was not so good.
solid edge is the perfect tool for home use i agree, i've been trying to get a copy myself but recently acquired a years license of catia on my laptop for the cool sum of £80
p.s. you are not having much luck are you alex (just read throught this whoel thread)

Gaybows!
The car's been listening in on my thoughts again
Basically, the thing's dissolving slowly. It's still roadworth, but it's just getting more and more rattly and I have a nasty feeling that the guibo is about to die as there's a noise like flappy fabriccy rubbery bits rattling around under the car from around the rear of the gearbox.
I'd thought about stripping everything I need out of the ol' girl when the insurance is up for renewal next month so that I can save cash for the new project, but that might get foreshortened by a few weeks
Going to see if I can find another 205, probably a diesel
just to get around for a few months.
Will really break my heart to see Brown go, but the lessons have been learned! Don't cut ANY corners as they'll come back to bite you in the bum.
Corners I cut included making it a royal pain to change the plugs, just for the sake of putting the throttle linkage and coil pack somewhere less convenient, and not sorting the grot on the shell before starting the project.
Live and learn though and I'm keeping a keen eye on servicability as well as aesthetics and performance for the new system.
