just done a couple more mods today on the subframe had to take down the front about 20 mm to let the sump in a little more and to lower the front of the engine and also took the rear lip off just for some
more clearance for movement of the engine
i did make some mounts but i wasnt happy with them so i decided to bin them and start again ive also decided to do away with the standard engine mount postion
now im gonna be coming of the inner chassis rails
so i started with this
and a big bit of angle which goes on the rail like this
drill a hole and you have this
i only needed one piece of the box to do both side get it at the right angle and they come out as a pair
then had the get the rear angle right for the mount pretty easy as the engine is a 90 degree v8 so its 45 degrees
just offering it up to get the hole right
and there we have a mount
now they need welding, ill cut straight to them lol
didnt really like how they were so open so i thought id box them in
give them abit of a tart up
and jobs a good un
for got to add ive just bought a new set of vibra technics engine mounts to they better good the amount they cost lol

ha thanks there certainly are not ali lol
and there getting bolted tho the chassis but I'm welding tubes tho the chassis so the bolts don't pull the chassis rails in
got the new gearbox mount turning up this week so hopefully will be all in wil no blocks of wood and jack assistance after that these engines have to sit gearbox down by 2-5 degrees so I still have to do that too
but it's getting there
Sounds similar to the fun and games I had when I bought a Morris Minor with a Fiat twin-cam installed; the rubber doughnut on the output shaft of the gearbox rubbed on the transmission tunnel, so I had to lower the back of the gearbox down by about 1cm.

well the inlet manifold on these are machined at a angle the carb mount is machined 4degrees to the engine so the engine tilts bk and the carb sits flat
1 reason is the oil drain holes bk to the sump are at the bk of the heads and the deepest part of the sump is at the rear might have something to do with oil starvation not sure
yep 240 for the pair there about 500 complete with valves and springs but I wanna put my own ones in there so that's why I bought them bare a full set of stainless hd valves are only £160
as i was looking at these i thought the turbos are going to be way to high possibly out of the bonnet didnt occur to me but a friend said flip them over so in stead of going up and forward the go down and forward
they look much better lower and room for the turbo to sit on top
then there was a problem like always they hit the mounts
which means the heads dont sit flat
so its either bash the manifold so it clears it which i really dont wanna do or ill have to take a little bit out of my nice new engine mounts i made
looking at the gap under the head its only a few mm looks like it will have to be the latter
that was the engine not the turbo side of things plus these old v8s are pretty reliable
all the years I've been messing around with them never had one go wrong
