they ought to go for that!
Would need to get the cars to the office in Tinwell (near Stamford) for the photography but could combine with a meet/race
only problem is i need to get mine finished first

Maybe we can get some timing gear at an airfield and pit it against something really big and expensive like an M5/M6... bunch of Davids and a Goliath![]()
Glenn, get yours fixed and you've got your own feature remember![]()

i've just been commissioned to carry out a V12 conversion into an
e30 touring for a fellow zoner which is going to take me a few weeks,
and then all my running gear is going into a M3 shell.
so i dont know how long these two projects are going to take me but
i'm not going to be doing much sleeping in the near future.
sorry for hi-jacking your thread toby

i'll let him tell you when he's ready, but i'll be starting as soon as the 750ilCome on then Glenn
Youve dangled the carrot
Who is the mad zoner getting a V12 ?
have i fallen asleep and missed a year or something

I won't get m3 exhaust because we have no e30 m3 in latvia, not even one. So the only way is to make it from scratch or modify some stock exhaust. I'm looking 4ward to making one from a scratch.bigdek wrote:use an m3 system
i used a standard 325 system ( for now )
Job done
So maybe you can answer my question what to do: make 2 pipes of ~stock diameter or (it's much easier) make one but bigger pipe where two pipes from exhaust manifold come togather? Something like stock e30 320 exhaust only bigger diameter (so the area of crossection of the bigger pipe is equal or bigger than sum of two stock pipes crossection areas?)Turbo-Brown wrote:I made my exhaust from scratch, it's not all that bad really
Tnx. Isn't it too loud?Turbo-Brown wrote:I went for two 2" diameter pipes which follow the same route as the original system, have a crossover in the same place, but only have one silencer which is at the back.
It probably would be running normally aspirated, but turbochargers act as very effective silencers, so I have a nice muted burble (at idle anyway, no idea about off idle!)Tnx. Isn't it too loud?

BMW 330i backbox has this valveBatch wrote:One day on topgear i saw Clarkson mentioning some valve in exhaust that opens when you press throttle hard, something like this is uset in aston martins. They say that when it's closed the car is normally quiet, but when it opens you can hear the roar even 2 miles away
