Hi
Does any one know what the std fuel pump on a 1990 320 cady can support power wise , and are they the same as fitted to a 325 ?
Reason is preping for 2.7 conversion with Nos , hoping to run 75 bhp then up to 125 +
if ring lands will take it , but will i need to uprate the pump ? if so any comon up grades known ? m3 , m5 z3 etc
would rather ask now, than have it run lean and melt something
fuel pumps questions

Standard E30 in tank pump can provide sufficient flow for way more power than any standard E30 engine produces.
Think some of the S5x engines sometimes put into E30s may require more pressure than the standard pump can supply, but otherwise no problems.

The S50B32 (E36 M3 Evo) needs a 5bar pump (most use the Evo pump), but the S50B30 (M3 3.0ltr) can run with the E30 pump as its a 3bar pump.Brianmoooore wrote: Think some of the S5x engines sometimes put into E30s may require more pressure than the standard pump can supply, but otherwise no problems.

You can replace the in tank pump with anything that takes your fancy with the aid of a few jubilee clips and cable ties, but there's little point, unless you are fitting an engine that can make use of the new pump characteristics.
You may have trouble making the new pump pick up from a near empty tank though.

i replaced my standard pump with a walbro motorsport pump from an escort cosworth and thats allegedly rated up to 500bhp.its a straight swap and cheaper than a standard e30 pump is from ECP.i was told i was running my standard pump at its limit @263bhp and could feel it holding back at top end speed/acceleration so i uprated it before i turned the boost up.as brian says though, although it is a straight swap it does struggle to pick up fuel if the tanks near empty and im going around a corner
