I have been researching and have been told that you can use your standard e30 325i box with the s50 conversion

Is this true ? or is it only for the US S50 ?

I will be paying for my engine today........ but it will be no good if i cnat use my current box

thanks

US S50 has the same bolt pattern as the Euro S50 and M50 engines.

Im not sure as nobody here has done it that way.
If its the same for the m50 engine then a few have done that.
Probably is the same as the M50 engine but I'd imagine you'd have to use the flywheel/clutch M50 boys do... Will it take the torque? You hear of 2.7 boys munching gearboxes too.

The problem you have on this site, is most people will have used the gearbox that came with the engine or at least the correct box for the engine.

How come you want to use the E30 box? E36 or even E34 gearboxes cant be too hard to find.

well.... i dont have the zf box and i dont really know where to get the propshaft shortened and re balanced etc.

At least if i use the 260 with the same propshaft, flywheel etc i dont have to spend load more on parts.

These parts are hard to get and very expenisve in Australia, so im trying to use what ive got

you know what i mean?

Ahh, makes sense now

Let us know how you get on. As was said on your other thread, nobody has used the E30 box on an S50 on this site, so it will be a learning curve 8)
