To all you 2.5 turbo owners, i was wondering what sort of power and torque you were making? and what basic components you were using.

Cheers

i would say most are getting 250bhp upwards i'm looking for 300+ but as they say its all about the torque and that seems about 250 plus as well, my spec will be log manifold, t3/t4 hybrid, volvo740 intercooler, megasquirt engine management, injectors 40lbs, and lots of little bits to get :D

It depends on a few things but most with engine management and big enough injectors are running at least 10psi and 300hp +
With great challenges comes great engineering.

There was a thread with this info in...
I think Ant said that you'd be looking at about 240 HP @ 7PSI on stock internals
and you can go to mebbe 20 PSI and 350+ if you start doing more serious mods like low comp pistons, serious headgasket and bolts etc. All with Megasquirt of course :)

Don't quote me to him tho, he's the man when it comes to doing this work!

What would be the max boost you could run on a stock engine then? Is it 10PSI?

Seen a post over at e30tech where boost junkieâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s listed there engine spec for people to see, like: turbo / manifold / injectors / intercooler / head gaskets / head bolts / boost and other engine mods

Would be a nice idea to have a topic on here for that (give people ideas and info on what to run)

TCDԚ´s stock engine
It made 293rwhp/298rwtq at 14psi.
was running 16psi on a dragstrip with too good of slicks for good launches

3:34PM 12.8048 @ 109.26
3:41PM 12.7627 @ 109.26
3:48PM 12.7568 @ 109.53

thats alot of power at the rear wheels from a boosted stock engine, very

would love to run that sort of power :burn:

what sort of costs are involved in that though? and whats the engine life likely to be as itll be a lot more pressures and stresses on an engine not designed for it :?

I'm making 270bhp and 240lbft with 7psi of boost on a standard early (high compression) 2.5.

I do have pretty massively overspecced flow areas on everything though which may have contributed to the relatively large power gain given the boost :)

are the turbo's in there efficency range at only 7psi? are the turbo's used quite small then? i would of thought you would need a bigger turbo with it beeing a 2.5, im not to clued up on turbo's yet so im proberly wrong.

They've got fairly little turbine housings and great big compressor housings so they're a bit of a mish mash.

However, they're from a Skyline and are supposedly good for 400bhp between them with the ceramic turbines but I needed to peg the wastegates back to the 7psi as I had no idea what sort of boost the Skylines run.

Luckily enough it all gelled together as the injectors maxed out at 6200rpm on the 7psi.....but that was far more by luck than judgement!
