I'm putting my m42 engine into my 325i. Ive used all the original m42 engine loom and ecu, plugged the 19pin plug into the 325i plug and i'm getting no fuel and no spark! The fuel pump isn't coming in either but ive bypassed this and given it a tempory positive feed and am still not getting any fuel into the bores. Can anyone help? Is the 19pin plug the same on a 325i as a 318is? Thanks, Martin.

The C101 plug should be pretty much the same. I just plugged my 325i engine loom into the 318i and it all worked fine.

Stupid question - do you have the fuel lines fitted the right way round?

Ok, thanks. yes the fuel lines are the right way round as Ive had look on another car. I'm pretty sure its got to be something electrical, but I just cant find what!

Was everything was working fine with the original engine, fuel wise? Maybe worth checking the relays on the scuttle, just below the middle of the windscreen. Seem to remember the orange one is fuel related. Maybe something's got dislodged, or pins corroded - mine were. I also had problems with bad connections to the injectors, below the intake manifold, causing no fuel to 2 pots.

Cheers mate. I don't know if everything was working when it came out because I bought it from a scrappy and have rebuilt it. I'll have a play with those relays but that still doesn't explain the no spark. And Why isn't the fuel pump coming in with the ignition key?

It worked out in the end but it wasn't easy! It burnt the loom out and after further investigation, it turned out that a wire from the engine loom going to the 19pin plug was supposed to be positive and the car side of the plug was feeding it negative!!!! After I altered this eveything was fine. What a cracking engine the IS is! Lovelly revy nature and (with a couple of mods) i'm sure its just as quick as the 325i although it was abit tired!
And i'm allmost certain all e30's have the same fuel pump.
