A few hours in the sun and we have.....*** WITH VID ***

The day started well as I managed to strip out the old exhaust and see what was what....turns out I have a 2.5 inch gap to fit a 3 inch pipe....so the usual really.
After some thoughts the down pipe we decided to beat into shape to get the best cleareance past the steering. It was tack welded and checked for fitment, all was well so this is what we came up with...


The lower half was lengthed due to no space for a clamp as it was too close to the steering and after some tea and a break from the sun we ended up with this tidy arrangement, clearing all body parts and sitting bang on into the exhaust channel.

And this is the 95% finished system, add the wb boss and wrap 50% before it goes on for good.

Awesome work.. Are you concerned by the lack of flexible coupling?

Are your engine mount pretty tough? If the engine flexes too much the pipe/welds could crack..

But there is no flexible coupling on a standard system, other than the flex in the rubber exhaust mounts so i wouldn't have thought it was a problem at all.

In line engined cars don't need flexi coulplings - the whole system can rotate with the engine. It's only transverse mounted wrongness that needs flexis.

I'm just making the main gearbox hanger and then the far box hanger needs welding to the back box, then paste, clamps and I'll see how it sounds

Got me a 512mb ram card for the camera so I'll get a vid soon enough

i've still not done a decent one mark

if the sliding joints look ok try it without paste, much easier to separate. mine is together without a drop and doesn't blow.

what boost you running? i picked up a little prezzie from Ant last week, so with a couple of jubilee clips, the bigger spring installed and some MS tweaks it's going to be 10psi for me shortly

Here's the g'box hanger, should be fine, may tidy it but then again poss not....


My WG is set @ 8.7psi but that's only till I wire up boost control and fit the solonoid then ....... we'll see how much a low comp well bolted down 2.5 can take!

I just wonder if you have hit the sweet spot on your turbo yet, mines not until OVER 1 bar.....

Have you done a flow check against a compressor map?

Just need the 3 inch exhaust clamps now to fix the final position of it, plenty of play in the system and it needs it as it's pretty tight to the steering. Under the rear beam is gonna be fun too but I have hammer if it needs adjusting

I had to fab another hanger as I got the angles wrong on the first one, so hopefully I'll be able to fit it and test it tonight.

Then just the WB to install and wrap it all up.

I'll post some pics when it's on and a sound clip too

Alex, I have made the bracket for the solonoid up and am ready to install it but I'm still awaiting my FET's and some other parts to make up the curcuit, while I'm there I'm adding water injection too as the systems are the same, just what they control is different.

Been out this morning to pick up some clamps and ordered some more exhaust wrap and VHT paint so it'll look nice a tidy when finished.

Am hopeing to fit and test it tonight so a vid will follow shortly after....

i have that problem, had a couple of people moaning about the loudness of my car already. lucky for them it isn't my daily driver

Water injection will be only for when it's needed, be nice to have ready to use and an extra safety feature for when the weather is like we have at the mo.

Found last night the 3 inch clamps are too small, I need the 3 1/8 inch clamps so have to pick them up today, so just downpipes fitted still, I resisted the urge to fire it up there. Wrap and paint is on order so not long now.

Sure you're not tempted to fire it up and see if it's all gas sealed before you do the wrapping and painting? Now I wouldn't doubt your welding skills but its easier to measure twice, cut once!.

It'll be run as is to check for leaks etc before it gets wrapped up and painted, I'm no welder but I am getting better each time

Atleast this one can be removed and welded off the car, the last one had to be welded on the car and it just wasn't possible to weld it all, ever. Also was a complete B I T C H to get off and I made myself feel better by belting the crap outta it during removal.

Picked up another four 83mm exhaust clamps today, WB is in with a local engineering company for them to wave their majic hammer over it, wrap and paint will be here tomorrow so all is looking good!

Just £88 to spend on windscreen and whatever MOT man wants in his pocket

I hope so, got the exhaust on last night, need to make a rear hanger as it sags a little under it's own weight.

Should have that sorted tonight along with painting it all and wrapping the downpipes.

Just waiting on my WB to come back from the engineering company before I can weld the boss in and fit that.

Then windscreen, MOT & Tax and I'm there
