Hi there
Is there an automatic gearbox I can fit in my E30 that has launch control? Could I for instance install an E36 M3 engine and marry that to an automatic gearbox that has launch control?
In an ideal world I would buy an automatic car for daily use, but I don't have the space and I don't want to get rid of my E30 so I need my car as a daily driver. I am just wondering what my options are. I know of the E46 M3 SMG but the work involved to get that lump in would be monumental.
Thanks

Nothing BMW will do it, and nothing that isn't a modern dual clutch style box as it won't work with traditional torque converter style auto boxes.
Why do you want launch control anyway? Unless you are competing it's a pretty pointless addition had for pub bragging rights

Pointless? Is it pointless having a Ferrari in Jersey when there is a 40mph speed limit? Probably. Does it matter? No.
I thought it would be interesting if there was such a gearbox. So I could the get revs up a bit before I set off.
Thanks for your help

The new zf8hp box in our autos is standard with launch control if you get sports auto ( flappy paddles ) and its single clutch, but good luck tryna get that in an e30ross_jsy wrote:Nothing BMW will do it, and nothing that isn't a modern dual clutch style box as it won't work with traditional torque converter style auto boxes.
