I can go one better, that is a 9201848 breather!

I agree, would be worth more as a manual. Some would love it auto though.........

Yes modifying cars is a mugs game pete, you'll always lose out money. I've thought about coverting it to a manual, but to be honest i've had enough of skinning my hands for a while, if i change my mind i'll let you know.

poll done although i personally would admire you for your effort but i am a bit of a perfectionist and can see alot of things that i would have to lets say improve.
i would say that a bit more work and tidying will be worth the effort with view to selling price....

Hmm, dude you pose some hard questions for this early on a friday morning...

To a greater or lesser extent I have to agree with pacerpete...

and i mean no offence by this, infact I applaud you for taking on this project and completing it!

At the end of the day, you have a 1988 325i base car (probably worth Ԛ£5-700) and although much sweat and tears has gone into the conversion, any potential buyers will not appreciate it- as far as they are concerned it's the way the car has always been (i.e the way they will buy it)

therefore as a buyer i'd be looking to pay at most about Ԛ£1400 because of the conversion,

so gives you a ballpark of Ԛ£1900-2100.

as pete said too-its worth putting a bit of cash and elbow grease to get the car looking its best (dash panel, radio etc) as that will improve the image presented to the buyer. dont want them thinking "if he couldnt be bothered making the stuff in plain view tidy, whats he done to the bits that are hidden?"

good luck with the sale and I hope you get plenty of moolah for it :D

Sounds all good reasoning to me neil(i think thats your name 320touring??)

I really don't want to sell it, in fact i'm trying to get it to one more track day before i do sell it as it performed so well and was blooming good fun.

I have 4 days to tidy it up in about a week or so, back from uni, so i'm going to do my best to make it as presentable as possible whilst retaining all of its features and functions. I've got my work cut out, i'm just hoping for +ve temperatures so that i don't freeze my nuts off.

Gcorky i know what you mean, in fact my brother is a perfectionist so i know what you mean. To you it looks like a mess, but to me its a fully functional bit of kit, which in my mind is what counts if you were buying this car...but on the other hand there will be a large portion of people that think diferently, hence i'm going to tidy it up.

Cheers guys for you honest opinions.

yeah the name is neil, jon (got a brother called that  )

good luck with the tidying up-as you say its a functional bit of kit, but make it pretty for not a lot of cash and it becomes a lot more appealing!

cheers

Might be after an SX eh? Whats E30 zone turning into :P

I would value it at around Ԛ£1800 from that description, and as pete said, it does look a bit to "home made" and just minor little touches will bring up the price.

I take it you've heard of www.sxoc.com? *Plug* :D

have to agree on the auto box i would'nt buy it just for that as far as the clear laquer goes i could fix that in about four hours so i dont see a problem with a body shop touching it up for a few quid
its one of those cars that is so nearly there but not qiute if i were you i would try to hang on to it and sort the last bits and bobs out as far as price goes i would take Ԛ£2000 and run to the nearest pub

So whats the problem with the paint/lacquer? As i'm not a sprayer/beater i'm not sure if it's a loss of paint or whether its lacquer peel of some sort?

I hop that makes sense as i have just got in from a heavy night out, yes thats right 6 in the morning, silly student that i am.

its difficult to see from the photo but what usually happens is you get a deep scratch or chip and the laquer starts to peel/chip off through washing etc could have been done before without being prepped correctly and has not adheared correctly but if the paint is OK then it just needs masking and a flash over with some clear coat flat and polish and it will be good as new :D
