I will soon be buying 2 wastegates for my m20 turbo project which will have a twin entry turbo (t4 divided flange).

Looked at the prices of the tial, hks etc and sh*t a brick. Did some googling. Many people on other forums have had good experiences with the cheap ebay ones. Some have bought cheap ones and replaced with tial diaphragms.

I know a lot of people will say get tial or your engine will blow up but I will be using the over boost protection on MS so if I do get a dodgy one then it wont be too disasterous.

So I would like to ask anybody who have used these to share their experiences please and if possible to recommend a brand

Ive got a knock off, it likes to stick and offer almost 30psi on spike, popping gaskets twice. Needless to say, im in the market for a tial!!!

Hope that helps.

Fair enough man, lots of people on other forums saying they've done 10-20k with various ebay wastegates, inspected the parts and they are still fine. Not all these chinese parts are junk, some are good genuine copies although some are shocking.

Anybody with first hand experience of a specific brand of cheap wastegate that they would care to share?

I know your saying Tial's are expensive, but....

when you factor in the 2 wastegates you buy, then change the diaphragm in say 10-15 miles,
then they start sticking,
by the 4th time you've taken them off you'll be thinking..

hmmm I wish i bought a Tial

I gather that you turbo is a "twin scroll"

that doesnt mean you have to have 2 wastegates,
you can simply run a branch off pipe from each bank of the 3 pipes,
then join them down the line into 1 wastegate.

Like so...

good evening sir. yes it is twin scroll. I was thinking of what you are suggesting before but decided against it as I wasn't sure if whether I would loose the pulse where the banks come together in the wastegate. Is twin scroll/single wastegate a common setup.

Just saw a deal on Precision 39mm wastegate. Did a quick google search and seem to be comparable with tial, turbosmart etc. Anyboday used these?

The wastegate in my set-up came as a kit I bought from a mate when I bought my car, Its got no specific part-no or manufacturer details. Sorry I cant help more.

Ive been looking at tial bov's too, thinking that if bought from the same place they'd offer some discount on a £500 order (positive mental attitude).

if you want to save some money, buy a cheap blow off, but not a cheap wastegate.

if the BOV fails, the turbine wont like it much, but it wont kill your engine. if the wastegate fails, it can be pretty nasty.
