hi guys,

i've had enough of the 320i auto! i cannot get the gearbox to engage with engine!!

i have now decided to do a swap and install a 325i block and manual box!
all i know i will need is a pedal box for the clutch pedal!

what else will i need? and is there any guides where i can get some guidance!

i do appologise if this has been asked before!!!

any advice much appreciated!

You need:

Clutch pedal box
Clutch resevoir
Clutch pipe (across bulkhead)
Manual Propshaft
M20 Clutch and Flywheel
Slave cylinder and release bearing
M20 Manual Gear box with linkages

You will need to do a small wiring mod I believe, and possibly change the ECU but not 100% sure on that part

I have everything for sale apart from the gear box for £100 + post (I need a big box for the clutch pipe!)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

how much am i looking for then for those parts?

and how complictaed would this task be!

i don't have the greatest knowledge and experience with stuff like this, but i've learnt a substantial amount myself and this would be a learning step for me!!!

The engine and box? I don't know, depends on the engine in question I guess, I have seen engines go for £100 and £200 depends on the condition and history and whether they are sold with all their ancilliaries etc etc, gear box I would say anything between £30 - £75 with the same theory for history/mileage.

A worth while mod to convert from 320i Auto to 325i Manual by the way 8)

If you want reversing lights, you'll need the small loom to the switch as well.
There's a bracket to fit to the underside of the transmission tunnel to support the rear of the gear linkage, and don't forget to remove the small bracket from the centre console that the gear selector brush plate currently bolts to, as it will shred your gear lever gaiter if left in place.
The existing radiator will be OK - just disconnect the gearbox fluid pipes and drain the oil. The ports can be left open.
