right am in need of a few bits of information please.

1.
will a L reg e36 2.5 engine mate up to a e30 2.5 gearbox?
2.
will a e36 front subframe bolt up into an e30?
3.
i want to change my e30 running gear to e36 so i have 5 stud instead of 4, does anyone have any build threads that have done this or can tell me what am able to swap over to do the conversion i have a complete e36 ready to do the swap

Hi Andy

An E30 325 gearbox will bolt upto the M50 engine, but it sits at a funny angle when bolted to the engine, so you need to modify the gearbox mount and also twist the gear linkage so the gearstick sits in the right place. The E30 4 pot gearboxes sit at the correct angle though.

Subframe I don't think fits

To go 5 stud you need to use E36 compact rear arms and E36 M3 EVO front arms with the front hubs. Normal E36 front arms don't position the front wheels properly. For the rear arms, the 318ti has rear discs, whereas the 316ti only has drums.

ok thanks, well in regards to fitting the e36 2.5 engine to the e30 gearbox its an automatic so will i still need to change the gear linkage?
also do i need m3 front hubs or can i use normal 2.5 hubs as i already have them?
