I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find it.
I currently run a E30 325i Sport and an E36, £200, 318i runabout. I would like to change the 318 for an E30 touring but due to current fuel prices would prefer a diesel, therefore it would require an engine swap. Has anybody put a 320 or 330 diesel engine in a touring and if so how difficult and what does it cost?
Steve.

Someone has to say it! What's wrong with a nice clean LPG conversion, instead of a stinking, cancer causing, oil burner?

Be pretty horrible to drive with the roof down!
I'm still having thoughts of sticking a diesel in my Touring rather than the M52 but I'd like to use an M47 or M57.
Friend of mine has a 325tds and it doesn't seem that great on fuel and sounds abit like a tractor
I'd hate to hear it inside an E30 although I'd be still curious to see how it goes in terms of fuel economy or what it would be like to go
That one in thew link looks very tidy!
M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
Because for some of us LPG is not an option. We have 26 counties and not many more lpg stations than that!Brianmoooore wrote:Someone has to say it! What's wrong with a nice clean LPG conversion, instead of a stinking, cancer causing, oil burner?

Torq
M47 can be difficult because of the wiring stuff like all the later engines whereas the 525tds engine is a very straight forward swap very like the tried and tested M50 swap.
I've decided to use my M52b28 now though and forget about the diesel until I get hold of an N47 from an E92 320d

Just to awake this thread... I'm doing an M57 swap for somebody else's Touring soon and either use an M51 I have for my own Touring or sell it and go M57 too so will let ye know how it goes
