I read an article a couple of years ago of an M3 E36 crankshaft being fitted to a std E30 325 block. Apart from machining of the front oil seal journal on the E36 crankshaft to fit the std E30 front oil seal & fitting 320 con-rods that was all that was needed to increase the engine to 3200cc. Has any one done this & is this all that is needed. :) Graham

Never heard of that before! Only E36 crankshaft i've heard being used is one from the 328i, and then i think it has to be the single vanos version.

Someone will be along with more detailed info shortly i'm sure...

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

S50 crankshaft aparantly won't fit but the M54/S54 89.6mm crank will but to get 3.1 litres you need to increase the bore size to 86mm. So alot of work.
