turbo engine build.

ive got a nice little earner coming up very soon and will have some money spare for a prezzy for my e30. what i want to do with it build a fresh 325 turbo engine. i want to get a decent engine builder to me the short block and i will do the rest. ive sourced the forged low-comp pistons and one peice rings, the flywheel, clutch and bolts etc. the other stuff i have already.

who do u recomend??????????? my engine builder was expecting to start in about 4 weeks but has let me down!!

also while im at it what rods you u lot recomend???

the turbo set up i should be picking up soon but i dont want to use it until i know everything is up to the job.......its done 146000 miles and i wana run a lotta boost eventually

please help me ppl as ive only ever used 1 engine buider and dont wana fork out on a sht engine.

The only way to be happy that everythings done propperly is to do it your self and take your time!

Thats my opinion anyway!

Besides mine is the first block ive rebuilt!
That was the easyst part of my rebuild the head was much harder
and if you feel confident enough to atempt that why not give it a go

i bought the head, it cost a grand but it well worth it. the problem with building engines is cleanliness. ive built engines before no probs but i am always welding and grinding in my workshop as thats wot im good at!!

so its not ideal to build an engine in. plus i dont have the expertese and patience to be able to create a engine like i want!!!

once you ve had all the machining done its not a lot really to get it chemically cleaned, painted and assembled as a short block.

But i built mine no more than 2feet away from my lathe and thats in almost constant use
i also have a grinding/welding fettish but i didnt have any probs with dirt just covered it with a old sheet when doin any dirty work!

we used to get 15k+ mini a series engine built. ive seen to many engine die or not produce the expected power due to oil cotamination. i dont want to take any chances and spend all this money on a something that knocks the crank out after 6 months.

on the other side i know of a few ppl who build good, reliable and fast engines in dodgy old swarf filled sheds!!!

i dont want to take a chance and am quite fussy about doing things the correct way after all you dont want to do things twice!
