From what I have gathered 5 and 6 pipes coming from the ports need to bend very soon so that a downpipe actually get´s past there.

Wish I had never used that log and just built a manifold

Not pretty, but functional.

Because the time it took to modify that one I could have just made a tubular one.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I can get a 3" bend back under the manifold to run that side of the steering knuckle.

I'm looking at ripping out the steering couple and using a solid spacer instead to get some more room.

Thanks guys - any more photos appreciated!

The bends I used are extreme angle, i.e their radius is a little to tight to not interupt the max flow capacity of the pipe size.

I've some pictures somewhere.....but it's pretty much running down the bulkhead behind the steering linkage. My number 6 runner hangs out quite a bit and it forced the DP towards the block, then a 20' bend takes it back towards the oem exhaust position.

My turbo sits around cyl 2,3, further forward and I would have routed the downpipe around the steering at a lesser overall angle, like what Toby did on his M30, I don't like the 90' bend a foot from the turbo, just doesn't look/feel right for some reason.

I'm going to 3.5 or 4 inch to the steering linkage this time, leave the rest at 3 inch, only because I'm redoing the turbo position so a new one has to be made anyway.

Pics of the problem area????

The two joined pipes on the left in the V are now gone (relocated to other side) they are wastegate pipes. As you can see I cut some heatshield off the firewall, still can't fit 3" down there without touching everything :(

You need to take #6 off and raise it´s exit from the manifold.

Do you have pictures from the other side where #6 joins the manifold?

Thanks all. I'm going to fit an E36 rack with one of Dan's splined shafts. Should give me plenty of room.

Yep, check the Group Buy section for the thread "Steering Linkages" started by DanThe and have a look at his comparison picture on the angle of the steering knuckle between E30 and E36 rack... I think it's on page 5.
