lovely collection of motors you have found there!!! Are they reasonably priced or are they quite expensive? From what I understand in that area of the world the BMW badge is quite sought after?

yeah they are a little expensive, not worth buying to sell, dont mind paying the right price for a personal car.

whit one open to offers
hartge 860.000 yen
sports 500.000 yen

well shipping cost ranges from £350+, it all depends on the weight. i just imported myself an evo 3 and i paid £362 for shipping on that

so its not that bad

about 80% of non-japanese cars in japan are left hand drive,

Some sweet rides. So what do these work out to in £'s once in this country?

What else would you need to pay e.g. taxes etc?

Japan have odd culture about things.... A lot non-Japanese cars in Japan are with LHD even the British cars you find there. For the Japanese ppl it give some sort status to have a LHD car, even if they drive on the left side!

One of the lads over this side of the pond imported a beauty of a white M3 from Japan last year. Not a spec of rust on it and sweet as a nut.

all in all you pay is:

eg. £1500 (car price) + £350 shipping = £1850

10% (customs) of £1850 = £185

£1850 + £185 = £2035

17.5% (vat) 0f £2035 = £356

£2035 + £356 = £2391

£2391 + mot + registration and 6 months tax £138

That's not a bad price considering they should be rust free (more so than here anyway) and some of those are low mileage aswell.

May be interesting when time comes for my next car. winkeye

Theres a guy in keighley near leeds who imports quite a few m3's from japan went to see a white one last year but iv noticed with alot of the m3 imports histiory is sketchy and 90% of the ones i have seen are clocked back to show less miles...although the fact they dont have a spec of rust due to better climates kinda draws one to them

Not strictly true.

I'm pretty sure it's a mix of RHD and LHD.

My Dad's old 850 was LHD from Japan.

Thats exactly right. European cars (and bikes) are seen by the Japanese as better. Even though in a lot of cases they aren't. Lke you say. LHD is even more exotic in a RHD country. So it makes the car even more special.

As for unusual cultural things. Japan as a society buys very few second hand items. Its believed that if you buy a 2nd hand item, you take on the luck of the previous owner. Quite superstitious for some reason.

Read the thread mate.

The cars were probably imported from Europe, where most are made.....

Nice cars e30BM, was it a question of browsing around to find them, or did you find them from one particular site?

If anyone is interested new era imports offer one of the easiest ways of getting a Jap motor. Not the cheapest but they do all the leg work. Run by a fella called Miguel they've been going since 1998 and Iwas going to buy a DC2 Integra from them until I realised I wanted RWD.

They've got an M3 on here

http://www.neweraimports.com/carDetails.jsp?carId=270

And the Yakuza love a German motor so check the boot thoroughly!!

Pretty sure the 1st car has Ronal LS wheels (same as mine) but with a BMW centre cap. They are exactly like BBS but with a polished dish.

Personally I think its a great idea. My mate has a Nissan Silvia S15 (never available in this country) that has done something like 60,000 miles and underneath has to be seen to be believed. No rust anywhere! Looks like the day it left the factory. Its on a V plate.

As far as im aware they never salt the roads overthere and have a very mild climate. So its the ideal place to pick up a good E30.
