I was searching for a good E30 to take it to the track and learn more about the driving skills.

Last month I found the perfect car:

318is alpinewhite with 168.000km's.
With absolutly no options except front headlight washers.
But the best is that it doesn't have a sunroof.

Interior: still good but have to go.

Engine:

What have I done till now:

- Interior is out
- everything that is not neccesary for racing id out.
- Rollcage is almost sprayed in alpinewhite
- Headlights removed and will be replaced by normal one's

Part of rollcage in zinkspray

part of Rollcage almost in alpinewhite

Still to do list:
- Intsalling rollcage
- Installing racing seats and belts
- Installing dashboard and put all the buttons and switchs on one place.
- 16 or 17 inch wheels
- In feature: other brakes and suspension

Nice, I have a non sunroof model in Alpine White, the two extra doors more than make up the difference though :?

I take it the tow bar is coming off :)

Looking good, you taking inspriration from the 318iS track car from TBMW mag the ohter month?

I think it was only the UK that got the sport seats as standard in the iS, no end on e30.de and ebay.de have comfort check interior.

@Jon_Bmw: it's indeed rare, I think sportseats was an option in our country. But the most 318is cars have the sportseats.

@Kedge: No I haven't read TBMW, was there a white racer in it?

New update on the car:

First I went shopping:

2 race seats:

Race seat fitments

seat belts

And then I went to work:

- Dashboard fitted

Working on the seat fittings to get the right set up for the seats:

Then made the lights a bit darker:

Image
Shot at 2007-08-16

Then I had another idea, I have a set of 17 inch 4*100 5 spoke wheels from a Mini. And was thinking why not putting these on the racer winkeye
So first let's se what it will give.

But Then I found out they don't just fit on a E30. So I'll need spacers to make them fit. Because they touch the suspension. (E30: ET 35, Mini: ET 48). On the rear I have just the same problem.
But if they fit the wheels will get a white colour.

you can buy hub adaptors for them mate, heavily used in the vw scene... easy enough to pick them up with bolts for around £100

It's already a while ago but I have been in Australië for a half year so didn't had mutch time to work on this car.

Went racing again last month, this time with Semi-Slicks witch was a big improvement. For the rest the drive's perfect and no problems. Here some pics when a was at Zolder Circuit:

Last week I had my first test on Spa Francorchamps with the track car. It was lot's of fun and the car did great. One problem was that the engine is not strong enouf on spa. To manny moment your thinking...i need more power :D . But in turns the Semi slicks and the suspension did a great job. Also had an Australian guy visiting me and he felt so lucky to be able to drive on spa with me.
