Here is my newest find, supposed to be a 1986 Sytner Alpina C2 2.7.

It has all the bits, minus the optional front lip, and it has had a BBS spoiler replace the original lip at some stage....

The original order sheet shows that it was ordered as most Sytner C2's were- with LSD, sport seats, ALL options, except air con.

Usual top model E30 specs, with all alpina add- ons including sway bars, suspension, headers, chip, exhaust, engine, cosmetics etc etc etc.

Could anyone help me with its authenticity without Sytners charging me $160 NZ? The plaque WAS black, but was tarnishing quite a bit and made it very hard to read, so the black was taken off and now it is gold. It reads al the usual, including BMW/ ALPINA E30 0266

Have a look at the pics (are they in the right section? and any help would be great!

Looks great, but needs the front spoiler, boot spoiler would be nice too.

Could be that the front springs have snapped at the top?, Thats exactly what mine looked like when i first bought mine many years ago.
Does it have the original shocks and springs on it?

looks like a gooden! As I remember all Alpina's sat nose heavy as alpina always said the handling was better... I can see their point.

however it does look like either...
the fornt springs have collapsed or have been replaced by shorter springs
or the rear has new stock springs on making it look high. Allthough looking at simons I would go for snapped springs
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Yeah everyone says that! Checked last night, springs are not snapped, and shocks are good

That one seems as low at the front..... but yes E30 people do coment on the back..... i dont think the big spoiler helps, nor does the kit- less rear!

looks to have all the good bits on it still! these early C2's had a higher comp engine too, does it chug along nicely?

what it is right.........on early shells the rear arch lip is different to facelift cars. If you compare one late and early car side by side you can really see it. To get the effect you could be after you would have to lower the back with some 60mm jobs. I'd leave it though.

Rear spoiler looks like a BBS one? i see you have the correct skirts so nearly there! Looks like your black inlet manifold has gone aswell :( i expect getting a front spoiler and boot spoiler would be even more difficult in NZ than it is here. Don't worry about sytners they are really helpful to UK owners too :? Do you have the original service book? Can we see a piccy of it?!

The side decals only came in gold or silver so yours have been added at some stage. When was you car imported?

My one is 0450!

The chrome cars always look bare at the back. In my book.
My cab is the the same.
Also the alpinas have those low front spoiler, but no rear?.

The car was imported in '96 from the UK (obviously) and there is NO service book. ie. this car has not been someones prized possesion, just an old e30 to the previous owner!

The car goes well, but i suspect it needs a good tune (clean up etc) to make it really GO again!

5th window switch is not wired to anything, and is definitely a botch up of a retro- fit. Sunroof works fine on its own swith.

I'll clean up the springs and check for stickers.

A front lip will definitely be impossible to get here, and the rear is a BBS spoiler, you can see the bogged up holes where the Alpina one was....

I am completely gutted for selling an old 316i i had, to which i attached a genuine alpina C2 lip that some guy had floating around.... the car has since gone on the track, and pics show a normal e30 lip, no alpina in sight! (binned? sold? kept? who knows- he wont reply to my emails!)

Cheers

Just had a look at springs, rear have the alpina sticker on them with the numbers, but the front are red and just have some digitally printed numbers on them- im assuming the front ones snapped, replaced, and the ride height approximated from the owner saying that all Alpinas have rake?

(would explain the rubbing in the top of guards, and the want of flared guards on bumpy corners!)

Something to sulivate over.

http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/pdf/teile_e30.pdf

Thing is this site doesnt list our cars part no's for shocks and springs,
But i have BMW's part no for Alpina shocks and springs full set front and rear.
007231/susp kit which is P B91.47.3100.124 £714.40
I ordered through a friend of mine who works for BMW with his 20% discount.
I purchased this on 30/4/2005 and they were limited numbers left back then.
Give the dealer the part no's then ask them to get in touch with Alpina in Germany as it may be listed as unavailable, DONT ring Alpina Germany direct as your Vin wont show up on there system our cars were converted by Shitners uk.
You have to get friendly with your local BMW dealer and get them to do the leg work.
When i rang sytners uk and enquired about Alpina shocks and springs they told me just stick M-Tec on it "it will be allright" I was not happy.

Oh and keep an eye on your Badges as im not sure you can still get them part no's as follows BM91.47.5.100.047 front grill badge £76.60
Bm91.47.100.048 rear boot badge £71.48
With the Alpina badge the whole lot cost £186 back in 2001.

keep ur eye on ebay spoilers for the fornt often come up but make sure its the early type, the BBS spoiler has to go n be replaced with the latter Alpina reaqr spoiler. I m sure car would not have come with the rear valence.

is the exhaust alpina?

Im Not sure honestly, the headers are alpina, the exhaust is a non- cat twin pipes straight through to the rear muffler....

As for springs, IF i pursue them, shouldnt be too hard- i use to work for BMW and still have many mates there

Nath i wouldn't worry about the springs, if youre after good springs with very close to Alpina ride height some H&R -35mm allround springs will do it justice.

These are very good springs, nice ride height, good ride quality and ok on track when the time fancys

i can now see that it does NOT have a stamped engine number anywhere. the place where it should be (just aft of the port side engine mount) has the flat surface there, no signs of a ground- off number, and also the tag from the sump is still attached, so the number cannot have been taken off.....

a new block would indicate that it was done earlier in life when the owner could afford the correct part (these days just flick a 2.5 engine in for cheap)
would you think?? anything else but the headers and rocker cover to indicate 2.7?
