I can see how much skill and effort went into that, but to be honest I don't like it.
Looks like a bm/merc/jap crap mongrel to me. But I appreciate the effort. I think I would like it more if you changed the headlights, and made the body wider (not such an hourglass figure anyway!)

A star for the effort skill and quality, but wouldnt drive it, looks like a z3 front on a shortened m3, do you have any e30 drawings?

To be honest i think thats pretty good but i think alot of ppl would of prefered it if you kept it as a normal E30 M3.
Have to say that must of took alot of time and effort mate.
Second pic looks pretty good too

the point of the first car was to make a modern looking car while using all of the characteristics of an old one. i wasnt trying to improve the look just modernise it. just modelling a exact m3 would have been dull
the program i use is called cinema 4d
the second car took half as much time to make as the first one!

hmm i like it! Can you do full 3d images ie. that can be imported into a computer game? I did some work with game programming and if you can get a compatible 3d map we may be able to put one of your cars into a game? (I was thinking vDrift)

That is what I do. Right now I am making a entire 3d landscape with setting sun.

(its pissin me owf!) Soooo time consuming. I think I'm going to go into illustration instead

Well lets keep it in mind, I wish my 3dsMax skills were good enough. I am a much better programmer than designer.

hey there oakey, im also an automotive designer. The programme looks a bit like alias...the surfaces on the first one arnt finished too well, maybe you should try maxwell or rhino, as it gives a smoother finish and more realistic. Here is an example of an audi i designed in maxwell (excluding the windows-havent built them yet!:

Those 3d models are very badly made. Its not the program

They were done by me about 3 years ago when I had only just started with 3d modelling.
I like the audi

car looks amazing mate, I miss the stuff we did at uni. I studied Computer Aided Manufacturing in Hertfordshire. Most of our modelling was for CNC and component assembly

I studied, well didnt actually study it but one of the modules i had to do at uni was 3d modelling and animation using maya, ill put up my pic of my e30 later on when i can find it, if you want.... But my one is just a standard e30, didnt think of modifying it much as i was just trying to design one for my animation, but never got around to finishing it. Depending on what software, some are really difficult to use and really time consuming. Nice pics there oakey, keep it up!!
Hows the car coming along, done anything new to it?

A couple of things. Its now got megasquirt fitted ready for the throttle bodies and camshaft and I just fitted a full black leather interior

- piccies coming soon in my "pimp my tech1" thread. Interior is pretty neat now. Just needs a damn good clean.
The program I use for the 3d modelling is Maxon- Cinema 4d. Very easy to use
