i decided to take my rocker cover off and clean it up and spray it black and sand off the raised bmw area.

i'd been wanting to do it for ages but seeing as im banned at the moment there seems no time like the present.

bought the metal primer and couple cans of satin black paint.
already had the sand paper and block and some wire wool

started of without degreaser as i dint have the money at the time and was bored so got some elbow grease on it with some wire wool.

it was unbelievably greasy underneath i dont think its ever been taken off and the top had oil over it anyway.

pics below

before underneath you can see where iwiped some of the grease and it was shiny underneath

Image
Image

then after cleaning that bit up and starting in the grooves
Image
you can see where the black bits are on the other half how dirty it was and what a difference it makes
Image

here is the top before. it was filthy but camera decided to play up so i sanded it a bit and got the oil and shit off then it worked again.
i used degraser to get everything off and used it on the underside on the other half to get every bit of grease out.

Image

haf way thru degreasing
Image

then primered and sprayed black
Image
Image

got a few blemished underneath and its not perfect but its only for now and looks 100 times better than it did.

and then with the bmw section sanded
Image
Image

and a couple finally fitted on the car

opinions welcome.

now i just gotta get the inlet manifold off and do the same had a quick look but looks a bit of a bastard to get off as the nuts are in stupid places.

cheers eun

Looks nice, been there and done that to mine (check out thread under my name) the inlet is easy to take off, just make sure that the dip stick is out and then with a good set of exstention bars you be able to get at the nuts underneaith, done it in about 2hrs good luck :D

This has to be one of the most effective 'mods' you can do, and it costs virtually nothing. I've done a few of these and punted them out for a tasty profit winkeye

you should use vht paint that can cope with the temps

but saying that i used satin black normal and havent had any probs from the heat

just my clumsyness when fitting that chipped mine
