I bought this car a few years ago, did a deal with my stepfather that if he did the NCT/MOT for it he could drive it for a year...So he did and had the full camshaft/tappets re-built and got it through the test. This was an entire year ago and unfortunatly due to funds I had to take the car off the road.
A year later and a lot of dust/dirt I am getting ready to start this project and get the car ready for its vintage inauguration next year.

So its a 1990 E30 316i LUX 2 Door Coupe

Here is a few pictures from when I bought it.

When I'm ready and have some funds I'll think about maybe putting up a project thread.

looks good! Lucky to be starting with a running car…. think it will take much to get a fresh MOT pass? What's on the To-Do list?

Don't think it will be much to get her back to glory.

To do list currently,

1. Pull carpet and fix rusting in floorpan (driver side) (only place ive found rust :) )
2. Replace indicator shaft as the left indicators are not working but when I press emergency lights they come on so It could be stalk or relay (ive ordered 2nd hand parts for €15...score!!)
3. Replace rear tail-lights as one of them has a hole in it
4. Some detailing/painting work, touching up some faded plastic etc... oh I also wanna get new roundels but they're expensive!!
5. Full service.

This is just the essentials for MOT once thats dealt with will be onto getting more bits done!

Should be making a small parts order soon, will update when I do!!

Nice! nothing too daunting then :) Resit the temptation to take it to bits, enjoy it first for a while when Spring arrives!

Can't tell from the pics… does it have a sunroof? They are extra annoying for leaks and rust issues.

Yeah it's got a sunroof and yes its defo leaking... :( I can feel broken rust when i push my hand into the roof liner... now thats a daunting task. Also the seal its in pretty bad shape so gonna try replace that soon as possible. I've checked the front two sunroof drains and they are clear but I believe to access the rear two i've gotta take out the entire sunroof so i'm gonna also have to do that.

Dang! I am facing the exact same problem, the rear drains are rusting out. The scary, but thorough solution is to replace the whole tray assembly with a cut from a doner. But I hope there is a way to patch it up if the rust isn't too bad.

At the least, get a good car cover if it is going to live outside winkeye
