First point: No E30 I've ever seen has left the factory with wheel studs. Do you mean bolts?

Never known a BMW wheel bolt to break, unlike original Mini studs, of which I have broken many.
Does this just happen with one wheel?
Check that the hole hasn't been worn as a result of the bolts working loose at some point. If the bolt head only seats on one side, it'll put a twisting force on the bolt at the base of the head.
