After 5+ years of not having an e30 on the road I finally gave in and got behind the wheel of another, this time the 2dr I've always wanted :D

Image

I spotted this on Donedeal last recently in Bantry, Co. Cork, few phone calls were made and the road trip there began, here's a pic mid test drive:

A deal was made and after waiting a week I got to collect it and do a good loooong drive in it back to Dublin.

I've no pics from the drive home as I wanted to get it home asap, and the following day was Mondello classic car show which was a bit of a washout! Few pics after getting back from the show.

I've driven her almost 400km that weekend, without any problems. Over all I'm very happy with it, it has the usual bit of rust starting which I'll try and keep on top of, I've slowly started forming a list in my head of things that need to be improved or looked after on her.

She's in pretty good shape, one of the previous owners on here did the boot pockets, I'll update the thread later with spec and work done before my ownership.

I don't know if anyone reconises her, I think it came from London, previous ownerfitted a reiger front lip:

And cut out a big square with chicken wire
Image

Have an iS lip on its way over from Germnay and I'll look at sorting out that cut out square down the line

It was loud on the drive back, turnout the middle join between two halves of the exhaust was lose. Still a little rasp of it, maybe a tiny bit on the loud side but I like the look of it, just need to sort out how she sits in the rear valance and sort the rust.

Not a fan either, needs an iS lip and the iS badge taken of

I still have a set of front eibach spring which I'll fit over the next few weeks to lwoer her a little, might have to also fit thicker pads or something to raise it a tiny bit on the springs and I cracked a few sumps in the old car with the same setup
Image

Original door cards have gone missing also, might have a better set sourced asthey should be light grey I believe?
Image

Easy fix?
Image

Hopefully also easy enough to fix

Another quick pic from yesterday on my way home

And a cheaky one at Mondello before leaving today

More to come later...

Copied from other posts about the car:

General:
Bmw 318iS
Lazur Blua
DOHC M42 142bhp

EXTERIOR:
-Lazur Blue
-Black grill - until I find a chrome one
-Eyebrows (colour coded) also going
-Sebring Exhaust (quiet) - not that quiet
-Mtec rear boot spoiler - Will be fitting an SE spoiler
-BBS alloys - with caps but one dodgy I believe
-Fog lights
-New Hella headlights - nice
-Wiper motor refurbished by last owner

INTERIOR:
-Recently replaced glove box Nice!
-Tear in drivers bolster and small cigarette burn in passenger seat (very unnoticeable) - Will be trying to sort this
-Small crack in dash (usual spot). Not as major as I have seen in other cars - Mut have got worse
-Speedo not working even after sending it to a specialist in Waterford. Otherwise the cluster is operating as it should. - Speedo and revs work but odometer does not
-CD and MP3 radio with speakers replaced in foot wells - terrible quality, will need to be upgraded, along with loom
-Electric Sunroof ( no rust) - inside sounded a bit crusty when poked
-Electric Windows
-Electric mirrors
-Mtec 1 steering wheel and gear knob
-Anthracite interior head lining - was this standard on the iS?
-Grey check sports seats, tear in drivers side bolster
-Heater motor refurbished by last owner

ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN: - Some of this will be checked over the next while
-Recently replaced wishbones and rubbers
-New radiator, waterpump, thermostat etc
-New heater matrix
-Gearbox was refurbished by the previous owner and feels direct and solid
-Standard 4.10 differential - Diff was replaced with rebuilt one, 4 clutch plates and new dog ears... or something??
-ABS
-Brake discs replaced about 2000 miles ago

I'm surprised you got something from Donedeal, usually full of dreamers.

Ps, isn't your touring Lazur blue? :)

Nice! Looks like its got a lot of potential! 8)

I sometimes miss my old is..not so much for the speed but the "chuckablity" while your keeping the revs high to get the most out of that engine!

good memories! :D

Thanks guys. It needs a lot of little bits sorting out and issues to be dealt with that previous owners neglected or made aballs of. It's killing me at the min but it put a smile on my face every time I drive it, except the lose disconnected rattle from the front but I'll sort that soon I hope!
