Finally got a chance to road test the new brakes after fitting the bias pedal box, a definite improvement in feel without the servo.
I had a bit of a problem with the ews going out of alignment with the engine ecu following some wiring work I did behind the dash.
Glenn drove to Birmingham this weekend to plug the car in to his laptop to realign the ews. To say I was grateful is an understatement, top service, much better than BMW !
It was good to drive the car again, I had almost forgotten how rapid it is :)

I have finally finished off the brakes, I have changed the rear e30 M3 discs to grooved tarox ones, rebuilt the rear calipers and changed all the pads to ebc ultimax road pads. I have left the front e46 bmw M3 brake setup alone as the discs are within their wear tolerance.
The brakes do require a good shove with the servo removed but the force required seems reasonable to me.
I have run the brakes on a mot brake tester and the bias seems o.k. without a rear compensator valve, I have just given a bit of 'lead' on the bias pedal box towards the front.
The following photos were taken before the calipers were reconditioned and painted black.

I have just finished installing an e36 M3 Mishimoto rad in the car.
The car had an original BMW e36 M3 rad in it, there was nothing wrong with it and the coolant temperatures were fine but I liked the sound of the extra 30% cooling capacity.
The rad fitted in nicely as Glenn had already made the bottom mounts.
To fit this in a standard car all you need to do is fabricate a couple of bottom mounts on the chassis rails where the rubber mounts sit on the bottom of the rad.
I modified the original e30 top mount to suit.
I renewed all the hoses with a mixture of genuine BMW and silicon hoses.
This was a difficult job as the M5 engine has two flow and return hoses and the e36 rad only has one of each resulting in the use of lots of connectors and tee pieces etc in a small space.
The car sits for longer in traffic now before the fan cuts in and the fan hardly comes on at all when moving.
I installed a piece of cardboard on the front of the rad to protect the fins whilst I did the trial fitting after spending an hour straightening them out after I dented some of them !

I went to a breakfast meet at Shelsley walsh hillclimb today, It was funny seeing peoples reactions as they saw it has a v10 fitted. Mostly they went through a similar routine consisting of saying ****ing hell, then calling their mates over, followed by photographs :D
They were all very complimentary of the engine installation and the car in general with some people saying that it would be the car what they would take home given the choice.

It went through it's M.O.T yesterday with no advisories which was a relief, the new brakes tested a t 98% which was good after all the work that went in to them.
I am in the process of changing the p.a.s. pump and piping, after that I am planning to refurb the wheels.

The bargain ebay p.a.s. pump seems to work fine, I also changed all the pipework and the belt while I was at it, I have also sorted a few electrical bits and pieces.
I am currently refurbing the wheels, this is taking an unbelievable amount of hours due to the intricacy of the centre design, also metal polishing takes ages to prepare the outer lip if it is pitted or marked.
After much deliberation I went for Alpina 'sparkle silver' which has a heavy metallic to it, what do you all think, should I have gone for the 'evo' look or silver or something else ?

Keith didn't want them , and eventually 'fmh' off here bought them.
Looking back I should have kept them in case I decided to get another e30 m3....
Which I've started to get an itch for lately

I have finally sorted the misfire out that the car had when it was at Gaydon. This required much investigation ( ten cylinders to diagnose !) At first I thought the problem was electrical so I swapped the coil packs around and the ionic knock sensors around and also fitted new plugs.
Then I did a bore scope on that cylinder bank which revealed nothing untoward.
Finally I found the injector on cylinder 5 was blocked and only injecting about 30% of what it should, bringing the knock / misfire sensor in to play and shutting down cylinder 5.
I brought a new injector, cleaned the others and fitted all new 'o' rings. I also fitted an extra temporary fuel filter next to the fuel rail.
The car fired up fine and after resetting the fault the fault code did not reappear, a test drive revealed the full 507bhp was back
I have finished painting the wheels for now and have a few things I would like to get done before the Santa Pod show.
It was good to meet the zoners at the Gaydon show, hopefully I wont break the car again before Santa Pod.

Thanks, I plan to keep it as it is apart from an evo 2 front spoiler, I still have several cosmetic jobs to do on it, for example repainting the passenger window surrounds etc.

Thats why I put 'tickle' the throttle :)
Pull away normally and then give it the boot, would be worth it just to see the terminal speed! Don't worry about breaking things plenty of people take tools and I always take spare driveshafts now :D

I'd love to see a vid of it going up the strip 8)
talking of it's terminal speed,
the morning keith picked it up, I had taken it to put a bit of fuel in it ready for keith, and on my way back home I gave it a last blast (cough** at a local airfield),
I was wondering why the steering was starting to feel 'light', when I glanced at the speedo, to see the needle pointing exactly at 6 o'clock!

160mph is about five o'clock on the M3 speedo !

An e60 m5 V10 will apparently do 200mph delimited, I wonder what this car would do flat out with e30 aerodynamics?

I can confirm that is still pulling like a train at 150mph (on Track of course )

Didn't the black one off the M5board videos "M3v10 'V' Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini" have something like 175mph on his "track box" thing?
