Thanks Jim, I'm really pleased with it, no rust on the outer arches too.

Ok will do. I'm debating whether to keep it more or less as it is, or to fit a tech2 kit and 15 inch nogaro silver wheels and 2.5 running gear, as well as a black leather interior.
Whatever I do I think I want to keep it as all original bmw parts

Just to say it wasn't me that did the filler repairs, it was like that when I got it.
The damage doesn't look massively extensive, so may a good bodyshop be able to repair with some new metal rather than putting in complete arches. Also as said on here they seem to be NLA anyway.

yes, those repairs are entirely possible fabricating your own panels apart from the outer arches which you can buy.
It does take some time though and is a lot of work to get right.
Well worth doing if you want to keep the car and have a grand+ burning a hole in your pocket
go for it !!

They are not NLA, they are on world wide back order which means BMW don't have any and they are waiting for some more to be made, usually with a price hike!

Looking at the goldfish swimming around in the rear footwells, I reckon I best stock up on blood pressure pills as there are plenty more hot pics coming !

I have a similar condition car in zinnobar (316i pov spec), I darent lift the sodden carpet, its structural! On the plus side, the more water inside the bigger the score at the scales!
Good luck with your project mate

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

I've now fitted new wheels, m52 engine, m42 box and associated running gear, m20 full stainless exhaust, 30mm lowering springs, new bushes all round including poly on the rear arb and trailing arm, new grey leather interior, redded rear lights, vented disks, 51mm struts etc. I am looking forward to getting the final bits sorted and am thinking of getting a mtech1 boot spoiler and is front splitter to finish it off, then have some rusty sills and inner arches to deal with.

I've now replaced every bush on the car with new, with poly bushes on the rear trailing arm and arb. Fitted new brakes and have fitted the e36 to e30 loom (kindly supplied by dan)
All that is now left is fitting the rear trailing arm, fitting and connecting radiator and cooling hoses and fitting m20 gear linkage.
Pictures to follow.
