Hello, I've been lurking on the forums but never posted. I thought I'd share my Euro spec 320i and my progress so far.

First I'm going to start with the story of how I got the car. I was lurking on craigslist and came across this car minutes after it had been posted. The guy had it posted for $2000 but I got it for 1600 after he agreed to hold it for me. The car was 9 hours away so I had to wait until the weekend to go get it.

As you can see it was nice but it was rough and needed work but I fell In love with the car haha. I made the 9 hour trip from Omaha to Spearfish and brought it home. Once it was home I went straight to work taking parts off and buy parts need to get it running %100.

Image

After taking off the side skirts and the cheap rear bumper I realized that the rust that was supposedly only under the taillight and on the rear right fender spread like the vicious cancer rust is, to the inner fender and the entire Quarter panel and some of the trunk floor.

Pics of rust

After stripping it mostley down I began to really dig in and find the rust.

Found out it had a ACS strut bar. sold it though. you'll see why..

Image

Image

Picked this big ass sheet of metal up I figure it should patch the rust lol
Image

Drivers side cut and tacked in
Image

passenger side cleaned up. It is rusted through so I'm just gonna spray rust encapsulator on it
Image

Passenger side cut out

Driver side deal pedal cleaned up and measured out

refinished the wheels
Image

Driver side welded in just gotta grind them down patch a whole then seal it.
Image

Front passenger floor welded in.
Image

I went to wire wheel the rear passenger floor so I could encapsulate it and the wheel started to go through the metal so I scratched that idea and replaced it all.
Image

I starting to seem like for every patch of rust I fix I uncover a new one. I thought I had the passenger side done except a couple little spots. I soon learned I had this to patch. I cut some out but still have more to do and its spread up the tranny well

Image

Its new heart only 130k on it.

Image

Image

Image

Here a quick pic of the floor its rust encapsulated on top and then encapsulated and rubberized undercoated on the under side I cant decide if I should do 2 coats or one

Image

Flipped around cleaned out sanded and whipped down with solvents. cleaned the garage while it was out.
Image

distributor pulled and shes sitting in her resting place for now..
Image

dat fitment.. can drop the coils 4 more threads on the adjusters
Image

Began body work and finishing up the motor swap

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

While working on the car i stripped the rock guard off the driver side rocker panel and I'm glad I did I found two patches of rust that hadn't made it to the surface yet glad I found them so I can fix it before paint

Image

Image

I also now have to replace the rear bumper mount on the rear quarter panel cause it was rotted more then I thought. So now that I got more welding to do I'll shave my antenna the proper way :)

Image

delete in
Image

1 patch made

Image

how I'm dealing with the rotted bumper mount on driver side

Image

Image

And that' pretty much how it sits after the last year of work. Once I finish the wheel arch repair the car is getting the final once over and prep and then its off to the paint booth. I plan on going back with the original color of Zobelbruan metallic. I plan to have it finish by may 2015. I'm waiting on a few parts like my zender wing to get back and alpina valance. Also picked up a set of hella smileys.

thanks for looking guys. dont hate to much haha

Why the change of inlet manifold halfway through?

Thanks guys. I haven't done much on it since its been the holidays. I did get a set euro smileys for Christmas. I plan on doing more work soon just need the time. For those wondering I changed the inlet manifold because I changed the motor from the 1.0 motronic to 1.3 to do so you have to drill and tap the m30b34 manifold or swap to a b35 manifold. It doesnt hurt the motor at all and I plan to do turbo. All I will need to do is port/polish my head to the b35 inlet size and I can push more boost. I can't decide If I want to buy an Alpina b3.5 manifold or do a custom one with a flipped throttle body.

Not much of an update. finished getting the wheel arch in and got the body filler on and sanded smooth and even. Also put the car back on the ground with the set of rollers. I will have a big update after next week as the car goes in to the paint Booth. Also picked up a 2.93 LSD and M30b34 block to rebuild and turn into my turbo motor with forged pistons etc.

Stopped by the shop to pay the painter for laying the primer and snapped a couple shots. He's trying like hell to get it blocked and reprimed this week so it can cure. He also told me that when this car come back it will look better then when it left BMW so now I gotta get an alpina spoiler so i got matching paint.
