Just picked it up last night and drove 70 miles back.
I have bought it with intention of a full restoration. I haven't decided whether I will keep everything original or upgrade it, e.g. to an engine from younger model, m tech bumpers, newer model seats, etc.

I have noted some bad points:
-I don't dare to look underneath yet, its quite rusty at the bottom o wheel arches, etc.
-when started cold you need to rev it up for a bit otherwise it goes off
-dipped beam is not working, as some other electrics - windows, mpg indicator on a tacho, etc.
-sometimes makes a noise when changing gears and just about to fully realease the clutch
-Interior is quite worn out, dasboard is cracked in a few places,
-oil leak

Good points:
-A 'new' roof was included, which is solid
-drives ok and seems to be mechanically sound
-when warmed up engine sounds really nice
-bodywork doesn't seem too bad and won't need too much preparation for painting
-alloys are clean

Comments appreciated!

Nope, I'm keeping the roof. I know it's worth fair amount.
I've looked underneath today and it isn't too bad. Much better than anticipated. Some rust down bottom of front wings and around, around front jacking points, one in the middle of driver's footwell and around rear wheel arches. Not bad at all!

That sounds about right for a typical E30.

Bear in mind that the square 'jacking points' under the front footwells are not jacking points, fitted just to move the bare shell around the factory when the poor thing was built.

Baur's in general are unloved,BMW's own offering is a far better looking car,but Baur conversions were offered, and bought, long after the convertable version was introduced.
So a late,post '89ish,baur,is unusual and rare,if it's desirable is questionable!

My Baur number? Where do I find one?

I thought those jacking points looked weird.... now it explains!

I think Baur is better option, the chassis is a bit more stiff than regular cabriolet and It's a bit safer as well

I will need to locate some parts for it...
So far I've noticed that I will need a cover for a roof while is folder, a glove box, a trim that goes under steering wheel, leather seats (cream colour), possibly a dashboard (unless I decide to paint it)... I'm sure the list will grow as the time goes by!
