Ok, here we go. Arrived on Wednesday and will start stripping it down properly on Sunday.

In it's current state it needs at least the following:

Both front wings replaced
Rear quarters replaced
New sunroof panel (in the process of sourcing a moonroof) winkeye
Tech II kit removed and everything behind it checked and more than likely welded.
Scuttle panel welded, it has the mother of all holes see below.
New carpet
New dash and under dash panels
Alpina's refurbed including new locks and lock covers as the last owner lost the key.
Fully respray - more than likely going as far down to bare metal as possible.
Get the motor running again. Engine hasn't run since 2008 with a suspected ECU issue. Planning on a full engine build from the ground up including Schrick cams, ported and polished high compression head, BTB manifold, BBTB you name it.

Parts I have managed to get my grubby little mits on since January to go on the car:

Ski bag Hatch
Centre console front ashtray stowage
Husco front Centre Armrest
Leather gearshift gaiter
Leather handbrake gaiter
Leather handbrake handle
Motorsport plate surround
Bonnet trim rubber panel
Casette holder console
Kidney grille and front grilles
Headlight covers & clips
BBS 15" for spare
Cigarette lighter Mint
Window cut off switch Mint
Proper South Africa spec Sump guard
Under seat fire extinguisher
Heated seats switches
Heated seats full kit
Bootlid interior trim piece
Illuminated gear nob
Tweeter pods
Heated washer jets
Premium audio speakers
Facelift rear lights
Refurbished Headlights
Front strut brace
Tool kit tray clean
First aid kit (check container)
Headlight wiper blades
Triangle
Full Tool kit tools
Audio fader switch
Jerry Can
Twin washer bottle with tag
Map net (z3?)
Rare check panel with US spec seat belt warning
US spec seat belt stalks
Door pocket coin holder
Red rear numberplate surround
Heated door lock kit
New no. plate lights
Polished fuse box lid
Rare Door pod speakers
Z3M short shifter
New bonnet/boot roundels
All red (reflective) rear number plate filler

I've got a huge list of parts still to get but I am getting there. Pictures as it arrived and after I just had a quick T-cutting session. I literally took the 'Polishing a turd' expression to the next level with it being so rusty but I couldn't have it sitting on the driveway looking cream. So tidied it up with a bit of T-cut and changed the front grilles from the faded grey crap to better black grilles and my shiny kidney grille and replaced the roundel. This will be a mother of a build but I reckon she'll be worth saving. Will keep you posted :D

When she arrived on May.2

The scuttle. Enough to make your eyes water hey?
Image

Genuine 16" alpina's. Worth what I paid for the whole car.
Image

Interior - alot missing. Shabby 370mm tech II wheel but will be ok after a refurb.
Image

Drivers footwell with some rot that will need investigating
Image

Temporary clean up so she looks a bit better on the drive.
Image

Changing the grilles and getting rid of the eyebrows. (Now sold)

Image

Enough for today. 1 wing and the front end cleaned up.

I had to explain the deal with eyebrows to my 7 year old son when he caught me taking this one. We did have a chuckle.

No doubt. I'm sure the inner seals will need doing. Luckily the inner rear arches are solid which I'm pleased about. There will be a hell of a lot of welding work though.

Yep keeping it white. I used to have a tech II 325ise on 17" bks I loved but scrapped as it was rotten. 6 years later and I've bought one in worse condition but going to stick at it white FTW.

No updates as such due to the rain but I did get the carpet out and a few interior parts off. On the hunt for some old wheels now so I can get the alpinas off and refurb. Trying to decide on normal silver paint finish or silver with diamon polished lips.

While I was stuck indoors though I did manage to dye the leather door speaker pods black that I bought on eBay. Came out really well. Very pleased.

3 of the alpinas are off now. 4th is not budging so soaking my nuts in wd40 and will try in the morning.

7j & 8j staggered genuine alpinas. Very happy. Tyres are off. Order in with Cotswold for new o-rings, badges and lock covers then they'll be off for a refurb possibly with a diamond polished lip I cant decide.

Image

The last bit of the toolkit arrived today (the long thin tool that fits inside the spark plug tool which I think is used more on the E28 than E30) so polished it all up and ticked another job off on my list.

Image

Proper stripping tomorrow to reveal the rust :D
