Hello all,

With a heavy heart I may be selling my s50'd e30 soon - its sitting on my drive collecting dust, and won't be going anywhere soon.

Any views of what these cars are worth?

To be clear this is not an advert - I will conform to the rules once up for sale.

Best,

Adil

Basic Spec:

1989 325i coupe converted to S50 B30
M Coupe LSD
Mtech 2 kit
Azev A 17 inch offset wheels (8.5 on rears)
Wilwood 6 pots
Front coilover suspension
Recaro KBAs in grey leather

Future plans include fine tuning - these projects never seem to end, wheel refurb, and upgraded steering and suspension - not to happy with the ride quality at the moment.

Thanks for looking!

all that needs is a tech2 spoiler and removal of the eyebrows at the front and it would be perfect, looks very clean however, engine shots?

Maybe 16" wheels will help improve the ride quality. Gotta love a black 2dr e30.

Hello All,

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Ste - I believe we've spoken before - the green chromie belongs to my brother, and is now sat outside his house. Im sure he will have it on the road after winter, and ill get him to post some pictures of it. This s50 325i replaces the Lachs silver M3 which was sold late last year, but the red cab is in storage for the winter.

Agree with Kedge - I prefer the way the car looks with the lip spoiler to the tech 2, but the eyebrows will be reconsidered. Had a set of 16s on which does improve the ride, but not by much.

Finally - will take some pics of the engine and get them up - it still needs tidying, but once half decent ill post them up.

Cheers,

adil

Hi Phil,

Got it through a friend - a while back though.

Don't see them up for sale very often, but the car puts the power down well with it!

Wildo Jhonno!

Been meaning to, just have to get through exams at the moment, then can spend some time messing with it!

Also, the 6pots lock up too easily - have to be careful on the brakes. Will need to sort out the ABS or get smaller brakes...

Regards,

adil

looking good adil.

did you change the springs in the end to help with the ride?

what size are the 6 pots and discs? we might be able to do a swap maybe ;-)

6 pots ideal for track use!

His are for a 5 stud setup Nick, so swap wouldn't work either way.

Hi Jhonno,

They are for a 4 stud setup, but needed a 15mm spacer to get them on.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the complement - I know you didnt get to see it when you came down.

Still having issues trying to sort out the suspension - didn't use the rear springs from the kit in the end as the body actually sat on the rear wheels with them on. Left the lowering springs on which aren't up to task.

Im interested in swapping if the deal is right - they have 310mm discs and are overkill for road use.

Caliper are these:

Billet Superlite 6R Radial Mount

Not sure what I was thinking when I bought them - completely discounted the fact that the E36 M3 uses a single piston caliper. Should've gone 4pot in hindsight.

adil

fair enough adil.

my set up is the 4 pot with new 298mm discs from Keri at WMS. just got them on. have a look in my build thread.

the pads are new Orange EBCs too.

i would need to see if the 15 inch rims clear or whether I need to go 16s.

what pads have you got in the set up and what discs? one piece, not grooved or drilled?

thanks, Nick

Hi Nick,

Whats the stopping power like on Orange pads? Are they track use only?

Will have to check what pads they were, will check the boxes, got them somewhere.

Not too sure whether they fit behind 15s I'm afraid.

Discs are two piece - can just amount make the gold hats in the pictures.

same LSD and cooling diff as me then fella.

the orange pads are awesome. more track/race pads. will come with a set of yellow pads too which are more for road/track application.

will have to bring the e30 up to where you are so we can try the wheels over the brakes. only way to test it out.

wil have to be early may time am afraid.

Hi Nick,

No worries - the car isn't accessible at the moment anyway. Time isn't a factor so not to worry.

Re Orange pads - not really looking to track the car, at most the dream is to take it to the Ring if its up to it.

There's a guy selling a H&R Cup kit (60/40) on the zone who I am speaking to at the moment trying to negotiate a deal - his asking price is very close to the list, so will commit depending on the deal.

Will mean the current suspension kit will be up for grabs once again when removed.

Jhonno - rectified, its just a MCoupe diff.
15mm spacer was needed to get the wheel to fit - would've been thinner if I had changed the wheels, but love the look of the offset Azevs too much!

Pricing a converted car is difficult, as is selling one as people always think they can build it cheaper themselves
I've seen a couple (one touring and one 2dr) struggle to sell between £3-4k. The 2dr was a mates car, a well sorted conversion in a clean shell, he wanted £5k, but after a few months trying to sell he needed it gone and let it go for 3.5k 8O

But, I've also seen a track prepared touring with an M52 make almost 6k!
If there's buyers willing to pay, it will make money. If not.... :(

Have a think about what price you would like but also the lowest you would let it go for. If you're in no rush to sell, you can hold out for the higher figure, but if it gets to the stage where you need it gone, you've got a priced-to-sell figure to fall back on.

Thanks for the advice and perspective James,

I will look at cleaning it up, getting a ticket on it and putting it up for sale around what you have advised - not after the world for it as its just a coupe at the end of the day.

If I get a fair price for it (which in my mind was close to what you have advised), id let it go - just hope I dont see it in the flesh again as I know I will regret this sale.

Best,

adil
