My E30 journey started about 10 years ago now. It all started because of my dads love for e30's, and it is something he has passed down to me. Im 20years old now and I'm the proud owner of a 320IS. So to where it all started, there was a white 325i just around the corner from my house and i spent my childhood listening to my dad saying ''I'll have that one day'' The years went past and the owner just wouldn't let it go no matter how much the old man asked him. There was countless times I'd be left in the car whilst my dad tried to bribe him with cash. Then one day he finally got his hands on it, here it is ;

I still remember the first time we went out in it, I must have only been 15. It felt like a rocket! The sound, the ride and the experience was just something else. Well the time went by and the car was thoroughly enjoyed. Then tragedy struck. Some local yobo stole a motorbike, he was only 14 and the idiot slammed it square into the rear quarter. He bumped the motorbike, a Yamaha YZ 450, in second gear with the throttle wide open and lost control. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but the rear quarter and the sill were completely mullered and he had twisted the door post.

I had a year off from E30's which led me to the autumn of 09. I signed up to level 1 body repair. I was walking to the college for the induction day and I saw a old chromie at the local garage up for sale. It was C reg 316 Chromie. It had 46k on the clock with a extensive history and it was only up for pennies. I went to the induction day, and on the walk home I went into the garage and asked a few questions and a deposit was handed over. I picked it up that night and took it home being only the second owner on the logbook! Here's a few pictures ;

I intended to keep the car myself but after a saw a wanted ad in Total Bmw magazine I knew I had a money making opportunity and I had always wanted a 325i sport so i thought why not. It was shifted to fella from chelmsford. And so the hunt began, I searched plenty of websites and magazines looking for the right car for me. I had quite alot of savings, so 325i sports were in my price range so i was more then happy. Then I came across a 320IS located in surrey, like many people I had heard of one but I didnt actually know what it was. So i spent the night researching the cars history and pretty much everything to do with them. Once that was out the way I knew it was the car for me. I spoke to the owner, a zoner, and a viewing was sorted and off to surrey I went. As soon as i saw the car I instantly fell in love, and on the test drive the howl from the airbox just done it. The deal was made and I came home with it :D :D Here's a few pictures ;

At the end of last summer the car was taken off the road. Due to personal reasons the car was put up for sale, It generated plenty of interested and I had a few viewing. In the end I couldn't let it go. I'm happy I didn't now, I can quite happily say it's going to be with me for a few years as yet. Here's a few from today, first wash of 2012! Excuse the flat tires, its been in the garage and i haven't had the opportunity to pump them up yet!

Looks like a belter. 20Yrs old and driving a 320is, out of curiosity is the insurance not sky high?

Going on some of the chat on here over the last few months of people getting quotes into the thousands for 316's I would have thought being so young this would be pretty steep.

I preferred the Chromie lol

Nice 320iS though, those engines look so cool in the bay even if it is a revvy 4-pot :)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Thanks! It is a real headturner. Insurance wise my first year was 2200 as a named driver on my dads policy, and for the second year it was 2200 for my own policy. Both being third party fire and theft. In september I decided to take my car off the road and I bought a 05plate Renault Clio 1.4 16v just to get about in, being a idiot i didnt check insurance and when i rang, they said my monthly payments would go up to £324!! So i cancelled the policy and im currently back on my 125 aprillia. It costs me £15 a week to run, and my insurance is £17 a month.

Ouch, the insurance is steep but if your getting silly prices for a clio then can only imaging what a modern equivalent to the 320is would be.

Very jealous I would love one of those but as I rarely drive these days the wife would kill me if I spunked 10K or so one.

If you ever do put it up for sale make sure you price it right as they are fetching good money these days.
